Explore the work of Zainab, an artist and designer, and Maab, a passionate poet, come together as they delve into the complex issue of colorism in Sudan. Zainab’s visually stunning artwork, titled “Colored Black” or “اسواد ملون,” explores the use of different colors spectrums used to describe people in Sudan, in a derogatory manner. Meanwhile, Maab’s poem, “Mother Told Me,” reflects on how society judges individuals based on their appearance, tribe and color, while reminding us of the importance of embracing our own beauty and accepting others.

Together, Zainab and Maab’s work exemplifies the power of artistic collaborations, celebrating the impact of art in raising awareness.
