mom I made it to @ellekorea This year was filled with self-doubt and confusion but today feels like a moment of quiet clarity. @asteriskonline is a Berlin-based jewellery brand specialising in organic shapes and sculptural forms. Browsing through the website, you can find pieces ranging from fluid curves in 935 silver, as seen in their most personal series, OMYO, to natural, almost geological forms incorporating stone elements, such as the Spiral Jetty necklace crafted in pewter. Across necklaces, rings, ear cuffs, and studs, each piece stands out in its own way, sitting somewhere between ornament and small sculpture. Some forms carry a sense of softness, while others gain attention with their weight and tension.⁠ ⁠ For ASTERISK's designer @zan.hyang, everything starts long before metal is cut or polished. The process begins as a state of mind, involving meditation on lived moments, where the act of making serves as a way to regulate emotional states. The process, resolutely hands-on, begins in the studio and is led by intuition rather than predetermined outcomes. The name captures this ethos. One of my most memorable moments of this year was my attempt to reach Everest Base Camp. Being exposed and feeling so unnatural in such a deeply natural place like Nepal, surrounded by the Himalayas, made me appreciate the moment of simply being there in the mountains. For the first time in my life, I experienced a real sense of peace in my head. Experiencing real fear from time to time reminded me that there actually isn’t much in life that is truly life-threatening to worry about. I know I’m in a privileged position to say this, but I realized I had been creating fear in my own head because I hadn’t experienced real fear for a while. My partner made it all the way to Base Camp, and that’s why I made this ring. Just grateful that I had the chance to be in the Himalayas x taken in Himalayas, Nepal by @zan.hyang
