Unforgettable. @michaelbrandrsa and I embracing 57 hours and 258km later, a couple of knees may be missing but so much gained. I’m still processing everything that’s happened, struggling to put into words the experience that I’ve had and the immense gratitude I feel to everyone who shared in it with me. There are a number of reflections to come, but the emotions in this embrace captures the essence of this journey. The video shows my last 10km, which is the only part we did slightly separately. Mike’s knee was in bad shape coming down Devil’s Peak, and I knew I had a little bit more that I could give. So after 7.5km swim, the Argus cycle, and about 102km of 13 Peak, I tried to really empty the tank coming up to Signal Hill. None of this was about ticking boxes - this was a personal challenge, and your own internal judge always knows if there was anything left undone. While the challenge was very personal for me and @michaelbrandrsa, we are nothing without the best friends in the entire world. Not only did you make all the sacrifices to help us survive this, but experiencing this alongside each of you was absolutely the most enriching experience of my life. taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @zan_prinsloo

UTCT 100 Miler Aftermovie

3 days of nonstop running and hiking 🔥 Tackling 161km in the mountains (8km elevation) with this group of absolute legends was one of the highlights of a lifetime ❤️

In an event like this, success is not guaranteed. 40% of the people who started the race, withdrew. It is thanks to our incredible community of family and friends that all of us made it to the finish line intact.

Firstly, thanks @zan_prinsloo for coaching me and for tackling this journey together 🔥 and to the rest of the guys, @bobby_wessels_ @andreas_ziemkendorf @michaelbrandrsa for the inspirational grit you showed out there.

Thanks to my crew, @prinsloo.peet @kell_shepherd for taking care of me and getting me through it, I literally could not have done it without you 🙌🏼

Thanks to @lk.fitness @myburgh.adriaan @samuelkingwill for supporting throughout and being an invaluable part of this experience ☀️

Although the 100 Miler itself was the toughest thing I’ve ever done, the real life changing benefits are found in the months of training leading up to the event. Discipline and consistency ⛰️✅ taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @zan_prinsloo

Day 119/365: Why do you run? @zan_prinsloo

"Something that started as a personal journey has become a very strong center point of my community and a lot of my friendships now." – Zander

For Zander, running began as a solo journey, but it quickly became something much bigger. It’s given him a strong sense of community, friendships, and new challenges. Now, in Washington, D.C., it’s helping him connect, grow, and push new limits.

What has running given you beyond just the movement? Let me know below.

Every year In High School my headmaster would tell the journey boys the following as they departed, that “it’s not the end of the journey that matters, but the journey that matters in the end”. This could not be more true for the 4000km we traveled on our Utah trip. Going through some “old” photos now, made me realise just how incredible the traveling was itself, and all the laughs in between the hikes and runs. Do keep in mind we were letting ourselves off the hook after the ultra and assimilating some red state behavior 🇺🇸, But we really did make the most of not doing much and driving most of the days, and I don’t think we could have had a better time making the journey itself memorable! taken in Utah, USA by @zan_prinsloo

Despite multiple warnings from the park receptionist to not do one of the top rated hikes in the US, we were lucky enough to get a 1 day raffle for Angels Landing towards the end of the trip. In her defense they have given up rewriting the number of people that have fallen, a great way to start the climb😂. With the world being online it’s so difficult these days to be truly speechless but Zion was something else, I’m kinda happy in a way that these pictures can’t do any justice to the park and hike itself. by @zan_prinsloo

I’m reminded again going through my camera roll just how incredible Utah was. Here we spent the day In Bryce Canyon with some (I think we settled on top 2) of the most beautiful landscapes and topography we’ve seen! We camped just 2k’s from the entrance. taken in Bryce Canyon National Park by @zan_prinsloo

Canyonlands Ultra 2024! Who would have thought 3 years ago when we were stilling “hating” on running we’d choose some random run in the desert in Utah to begin a holiday… It was a really tough day out! Zans smashed the run after basically seconding myself and Bobby for the first 60k. We were really happy with the 2 marathon loops we finished! I woke up really sick and couldn’t put down the food (aid station food was just candy) and we landed up missing the cutoff for the last 10 mile loop. Bobby and I are still happy with the 50mile (plus some change) buckle. Zans picked up his first (100k) buckle State side too. taken in Canyonlands National Park by @zan_prinsloo

We had the most incredible morning in Arches National Park this morning with some stiffness in the legs from the weekend’s run! We were surprised by some snow and then blown away by the arches! taken in Arches National Park by @zan_prinsloo
