From where I started to where I’m going this journey has always been bigger than me. As a proud Memphian witnessing disparity, where resources weren’t always guaranteed, I’ve seen firsthand why thoughtful, intentional policy matters. It’s personal. It’s necessary. And it’s powerful. Especially now where our future is at stake.

Through my academic work and hands-on experience, I’ve had the opportunity to engage deeply with policy and community, whether in the classroom, through my internship, or in spaces where real decisions impact real lives. Each experience has strengthened my understanding that policy is not just legislation on paper, it’s a tool that shapes opportunity, equity, and access.

This semester, I balanced two impactful internships that deepened my commitment to policy and public service. Through my work in lobbying with Ampersand Advocacy, I gained firsthand experience navigating legislative spaces, advocating for policy priorities, and understanding how strategic influence shapes outcomes. At the same time, I worked in the Nashville Mayor’s Office on the Choose How You Move program, contributing to efforts focused on transportation equity, accessibility, and improving how communities connect to opportunity. Being in both spaces allowed me to see policy from the State and Local governments. These experiences reinforced my passion for building solutions that are rooted in community needs. Thank you Heather and Sarah for building the foundation of purposeful advocacy! Thank you to the CHYM team for making Nashville great. The work we all do is just a small piece of the puzzle to democracy.

Everything earned, not given ❤️‍🔥

On April 21st, 2024 I had the honor to be initiated into the Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Alpha Chi,

Thank you. For every hard lesson, great advice, and a home. Joining this sisterhood has been an AXperience of a lifetime. From CTDN, gaining 64 amazing sisters, and creating my own name in our sorority, I am grateful to wear our letters. No one will ever get it, but its not for them to understand. I will cherish every show, step, and tear shed along the way, honoring our name and being a force to reckon with. Everybody can’t win 2 step shows back to back, but we did🤷🏾‍♀️ Our yard forever. It’s so hard to be an Alpha Chi Delta.

To my Sorory Mommy,

Hey Twin! Thank you for paving the way. Growing up and witnessing the bond of this sisterhood allowed be to grow into the woman I am today. Your wisdom, grace, and leadership has taught me to always hold my head high and never feel alone. You are Wonder Woman and I am proud to walk in your footstep. My first love💜💚

My freshman year I didn’t know who I wanted to be or wanted to do. Seeing so many talented and successful women proudly wearing their green and cream inspired me to do the same. Joining this organization was a goal, a blessing, and forever an honor. This organization showed me what sisterhood is. It took an unsuspecting girl and molded her into a WOEman. The history of our organization is black HERstory through and through. Thank you to my Founders, Charter Members, and dedicated Feds like @el.bass.9 for keeping our story alive.

TSU, you made my dreams come true🥹 I came to campus with pink hair and a dream, resistant to change but optimistic for the future.

And boy what a time was had! TSU pushed me to be the very best I could (and will) be. Big Blue runs through my veins, and I will forever hold true to our legacy. Thank you mom, nuna, my entire family and friends and extended village that helped me get here. I love y’all, and will never forget every helping hand.
