Zangmans malerische Sprache ist bereits bemerkenswert ausgereift und spielt mit dem Thema der Veränderung, des Neubeginns, den Körpern, Bewegungen: umarmend, wegstoßend, auffangend, balancierend, ineinander verschlungen und völlig getrennt zugleich.
Spannend wird es für Zangman, wenn ihre Porträts an Horrorfilme erinnern, ungemütlich werden, fast schon wehtun. Mit Dekoration hat es nichts zu tun, ganz und gar nicht.
„Da ist ein Blumenstrauß, der ist schön, aber er wird mehr messy und anders als in der Vorstellung, wenn ich ihn dann male!“, sagt Zangman zu mir. „Schau auf die Augen, wie sie herausstoßen und leicht verschoben sind. Das macht einem doch fast Angst!“, spricht sie weiter und bricht in ein schallendes, lautes Lachen aus.
„Ich liebe Hamburg und für mich steht jetzt schon fest: Ich will hier bleiben! Ich habe mich so verändert, wie sich auch meine Malerei verändert hat. Ich habe Neues ausprobiert und auf Altes zurückgegriffen. Immer wieder hat man einen Style und dann ändert man ihn. Wenn man’s draufhat, will man ja etwas Eigenes herausfinden – über sich und über das Malen.“
Im Atelier an der HfbK im Masterbuilding sind wir gerade alleine und Zangman öffnet sich weiter:
„Ich werde kein Atelier mehr hier haben und gehe @westwerk_hamburg und wechsle die Klasse, denn alles hat seine Zeit und ich brauche meine Zeit hier.“
Madness is Tonic – den Titel zu wählen, hat länger gedauert, als das ganze Bild zu malen. Zangman erzählte mir, dass dieses Bild ohne Bildreferenzen entstanden ist und völlig frei, aus dem Gefühl heraus, gemalt wurde.
Ich sehe Körper, Gliedmaßen, Köpfe, Bewegungen, Schatten, als würde ein ganzer Nachtclub an einem Abend völlig zertanzt und zerfeiert werden. Eine Befreiung von Referenzen, ein Loslassen vom Bildmaterial. Diesmal keine Ablenkung, denn die Bildreferenzen hattest du schon in den Studien der Bewegung zuvor direkt in dein Herz skizziert.

I’m very happy to have been part of the art project and to present my painting Where We Bloom for the first time.

I’m just so happy about these letters in Chinese and hope my friends have fun while reading it 💜🫟
