Finished reading on Thursday and I am blown away. I had never heard of the Jewish Bund before this, surely because of a century of Z!0nist propaganda. I grew up knowing nothing about P@l3st!ne or the N@kba, like most American Jews of my generation. Z!0nism is literally incompatible with liberalism or progressivism; it’s a fascist supremacist ideology that requires the subjugation and/or displacement of others to make it work, and therefore it doesn’t work. I had a proper meltdown on Monday. Cried in bed for an hour and then felt like shit all day. I am so so so frustrated by what feels like absolutely NOTHING happening with my book right now, and jealous of people having career successes.This morning I reread my whole manuscript aloud to myself, which took about two hours, and remembered that my book is really good and I am talented af and the scarcity of the poetry publishing market and its contest economy has ZERO bearing on my worth as an artist or human.Hate how easy it is to forget that. by @zanniediamond

Ate a remarkable meal @tabledonkeystick on Friday. The schnitzel was out of control, the beef cheek croquettes were dreamy, the elderflower panna cotta with rhubarb jelly and black raspberries was my favorite restaurant dessert of all time. #chicagoeats by @zanniediamond

I have wanted to make a Niçoise salad for years but could never get my shit together for it. So many ingredients! But the Niçoise recipe in @frenchfamilyfood new salad cookbook inspired me to finally make it.Alexandra, thank you. This recipe is perfect. I was lazy on the peppers, using jarred instead of roasting my own, and skipped the anchovies this time. I love a salad with one or two warm elements. by @zanniediamond

Salmon sashimi with foraged chives and chive blossoms and ikura, plus yuzu soy for dipping. I guess “foraged” is a very generous term, I picked them next to the sidewalk like three blocks from my house. I’m working on a poem about chives and how Chicago is named for them. by @zanniediamond

I honestly feel almost silly making this post but: I am queer. I am bisexual/pansexual/not committed to a label at this moment. I am very in love with and attracted to my husband, and I also recognize that compulsory heterosexuality has played a very large role in my life. I have always known this and have always been attracted to people of all genders. I know I owe it to nobody to say I am queer, except I owe it to myself I think.I am especially enormously grateful to @transteachertales and @drableg for having lots of conversations with me about queerness and being overall amazing friends at all times. @nettlestudios HAS DONE IT AGAIN, this shirt is absolutely perfect ⭐️ I felt very myself in this outfit. It was actually cool enough yesterday for me to put on my face and a cute fit. Dreading the heat wave but at least I have lake swimming. by @zanniediamond
