One year ago, my journey to Egypt began with an Art Show I hosted in Toronto with the help of some incredible friends and comrades. Together we used art and photography as a way to give back, raising $10,313 for displaced families from Gaza living in Egypt. That moment of collective strength became the starting point for everything that followed.

Over the past 10 months, I’ve worked directly with families in need, coordinating community events, packaging and distributing food parcels, supporting hospitals, creating school programs, and helping children facing mental health struggles. I also had the chance to help establish and manage a NGO, an experience that pushed me to grow as both a leader and humanitarian journalist.

The friends and community I’ve connected with from all over the world have made a meaningful impact on my journey. Simple acts like a phone call from a dear friend while I was alone in Egypt, or a small gift from an auntie to remind me of home. My mentor and dear friend like @zaheerasoomar , who supports me and embodies the strength of a women I aspire to be, @mimi_m_mey @lila__clara taught me that love and strength in friendship can restore faith in humanity and @yipeng.ge who always reminded me that standing for what’s right sometimes comes at a cost. Every person I’ve met along the way has left a lasting mark on my life and my work.

But the deepest impact came from the families themselves, mothers, fathers, and children who shared their broken yet powerful stories. As someone who has been displaced, I carry their voices with me. And though the scale of genocide can make one feel helpless, I’ve learned this truth: no one can do everything, but together we can do anything.

This year taught me that humanitarian work is more than aid, it’s amplifying voices, building solidarity, and fighting for justice.

I’m committed to continuing this work and will be going back soon for my 3rd humanitarian mission that will include the Sudanese community ❤️🇸🇩

Shedding light on working with displaced families from Gaza living in Egypt.

For the last ten months, I worked with two NGOs, supporting displaced families from Gaza living in Egypt through food parcels, medical aid, school programs, and community events.

The stories they shared of resilience, struggle, and survival stayed with me.

Displacement changes everything. No one person can fix it, but every act of solidarity matters.

Humanitarian work is not just about aid, it’s about dignity, justice, and amplifying voices.

I’m back in Egypt for my fourth solo humanitarian mission.

This time, I’ve partnered with @sudan_hf and @lets.havehope to support @refugee_abnaalbrgad, where 1,229 displaced children currently live and study.

Together, we’re providing complete school supply kits for every student, along with teaching materials for their teachers, so these classrooms can continue running despite displacement. Each child will also receive a tote bag filled with their supplies, making sure they have everything they need to learn.

Education is one of the few things that brings stability and hope to children who have lost so much. I’m incredibly grateful to be able to support this project.

Never underestimate the power of a single action. The power of a single word. The power of a single thought. The creator of the heavens and the Earth provided us with an intellect and a mind capable of creating the world around us. You’re literally reading this off a device that if someone 100 years ago seen they would’ve thought it was witch craft. Nothing is impossible. Some things we just haven’t figured out how to do. I write all this to remind you that the possibilities are endless. This world is beautiful and worth fighting for even with all the chaos. Never let the evils of this world corrupt the love that God has instilled with in you.

Sammy Shiblaq is a Palestinian rapper who grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and has been making music since he was 15. Music isn’t just something he does—it’s who he is. You can feel his passion and dedication within minutes of meeting him. His talent is undeniable, and he makes it look effortless. As one of the strongest lyricists I’ve ever come across, he’s not only an artist but also a voice for justice, standing on the right side of history. The world is lucky to have him.

Sammy Shiblaq is undeniably talented—one of the best in the game yes —but what truly sets him apart is his intelligence. It’s not just in his lyricism but in the way he carries himself and the way he makes people feel in his presence. He is humble, kind, and thoughtful, always leaving you with something to reflect on. His artistry goes beyond music—it’s a reflection of his depth, wisdom, and unwavering authenticity.
