POSTS STORIES REELS

And in the end, we invited the community and our collaborates to the space that serves as our ensemble’s meeting place: the theater happening; introduced as a performative walk; our audience was following us to an original sound voice scape based on Kolja Kraft’s (@koljagieren ) recordings of local poetry, storytelling of local orignal storys in the form of guided tours along the walk led by Julla Kroner (@postbotenschreck ) and Malik Meyer (@malikzaytun ), led through group singing and poetry by Mariia Lisovska (@maril.waltz ), through the original songbook created by Marcel Tadeusz Jarocki (@marceltadeuszjarocki ) and Ola Supernak (@_olsu0 ) , to Jules Rodgers’ (@jules.rodgers ) puppet performance of the “Utopiec,” based on local legends, we invited people into the no-man’s-land; the meeting point between theatrical imagery and dialogue; through our gathering. This evolved into a happening that culminated in a shared meal around the campfire.

This gave us the opportunity to sit down with people we already knew; as well as those we met for the first time during the spektakle; and talk about the past, the present, and the future.

Here are our impressions!

Throughout the week, the days included not only scheduled events such as workshops, rehearsals, tours and other activities, but also many spontaneous encounters; very much in keeping with the aim of our research project: to get to know the place and its community. We visited Pan Alois at his self constructed Museum of history, which houses a collection of artefacts, documents and stories relating to the Polish, German and Silesian heritage of the silesian region, in which Cisek is situated. We explored Cisek, its history and its sights. We got to know the people in their yards and by their fences. We sat in the garden café enjoying coffee and tea. We walked and cycled through the village and the surrounding area. We also met Rajmund Frischko, the mayor of the municipality of Cisek and presented our project concept to him. All these encounters and experiences enabled us to get to know the place in a very organic way. We are grateful for this time and for the warm welcome we received, as well as for the trust placed in our work.

Here are a few more impressions from those moments in between!

We followed Julla Kroner’s invitation and traveled to Cisek, Poland. There, we planned to meet with the community, conduct research, and work on the Market Groseria Passage project. In collaboration with the cultural center in Cisek, we were able to use they space to create a meeting point between us and the community; we participated in a basket-weaving workshop led by Pani Alicia, and learned together with kids and seniors from Cisek.; and also we offered two additional workshops as an ensemble. Jules Rodgers (@jules.rodgers) and Mariia Lisovska (@maril.waltz) invited the children from the local school to a puppetry and mask-making workshop, Katarzyna Kupiec (@kasiek224) and Kolja Kraft (@koljagieren) worked with the youth and seniors in a theater of movement and memory workshop. Both workshops content where based on the stories and legends of the local area.

Here are a few highlights from the three workshops, and we’ll share more with you soon!

A text fragment based on conversations and encounters with Lina Vitola (@lina10v) , Benita Ozola (@benitaozola ), Santija Veselova (@santijave )and Kolja Kraft (@koljagieren )

It took me some time to go through the conversations and finally put this text together. I'd like to share this part of my research with you now.

Can the sea be an audience?

I would like to thank my dialog partners; without them, this text would not exist; their memories and their images give it life. Thank you.

“To predict the future, you need to take a wild guess based on previous experience, which does not necessarily connect with reality. To cross the border between being a stranger and being part of a community, you need to be able to bring your essence to people and be ready to observe there.”

Mariia Lisovska (@maril.waltz) shares her perspective and experience with us through this article. Her text explores the meaning of space that she and the artists created during Market Groseria Passage, the position of the so-called stranger moving between passages, and what community might mean within these contexts. In doing so, she does not remain focused solely on Stolec but also seeks to connect the experiences gathered in the village with a broader global question.

Kolja Kraft (@koljagieren) and Malik Meyer (@malikzaytun) set off for Szczecin to visit our colleagues at Teatr Kana (@teatr_kana)Together with Rafal Foremski, they invited Magda and Ludomir Franczak (@magdalena_franczak - @ludomirf) to Stolec on the Polish side of the border and Pampow on the German side. These small gatherings, stimulated by the work Manifestos for the Future by the artists from Lublin, took shape over the course of three days. This led to exchanges and discussions about the present and the future within the various communities. A successful exchange, full of ideas and inspiration. We would like to thank Magda and Ludomir and many thanks also go to the Herring family, the Supernak family, and the Bauer family for welcoming us into their gardens, thereby allowing the meetings to take place as happenings.

“In these places, people have created passages, possibilities, and conditions in which meeting points can be experienced. Places where stories fill the space and new stories can emerge. To visit these places, to observe them, and to be aware of them — that they exist.”

Another article as part of the Market Groserias project. Malik Meyer shares his thoughts on a practice of looking at empty spaces in terms of their potential actions and possibilities. The text emerged from two years of experience and research on the topic, while also serving as an invitation to collectively rediscover and activate places.

„Everything we deem grand is a product of a hand just as anatomically complex as any other. Between creating and not creating, there's only an action. Between sharing and not sharing lies only frozen potential and appropriated knowledge.“

In the next article, Hanna Nachyła invites us to see things from her perspective. She visited us several times during the Market Groseria Passage Happenings. Now she shares with us her own passage, in which she moves between expectations, moments, and reflections after the project through words and sketches, grasping what her time in Stolec triggered in her and continues to trigger. Thoughts that, as she sat on the Buslinine 223, invite us to observe.
But see for yourself.

“The term is strongly shaped by expectations and comparisons, by names and works that suggest that a simple use of the concept, especially in connection with one’s own simple being, should be carefully avoided, and that one’s head ought to be bowed, so that humility may assert itself vehemently and immediately in order to avert greater disgrace.”

And so we continue. We share with you the next article as part of our Market Groseria project. In this text fragment, Kolja Kraft—who was involved in the Market Groseria happenings, actions, and interactions in both 2024 and 2025— as organzier and artist - shares his thoughts on the question of whether the practice within the project can become a form of peace through art. He does not seek an urgent or definitive answer; rather, he invites the reader into his reflections and, at the same time, provokes a continuation of this thinking—possibly also with a view toward future actions in art and culture.

“On the contrary, being an artist allows me to find a way of communication between myself and the world, with the people I want to meet and who I would like to get to know me. The process of creating is about finding the right images, symbols, gestures, colors, and choreographies that bring me closer to the one who sees my work.”

Marcel Tadeusz Jarocki shares with us his perspective and brief insights into his thoughts on his stays at Market Groseria 2024 and Market Groseria Passage 2025 in Stolec.

Expectations, the meeting point of everyday life and ideas, the language between artists and viewers. As a fragment, the artist also shares with us in the eighth edition of the articles how these thoughts can become sparks for bridges and inspiration. During the project Market Groseria – Passage, the artist Marcel Tadeusz Jarocki (@marceltadeuszjarocki) was inspired by his surroundings during his stay and, among other things, worked in collaboration with the community in Stolec on the short film:

Baśń o butach bez śladu
(The Tale of the Trackless Shoes).

Now we would like to share this work with you here. The film invites viewers into a philosophical story about life—about death and passage—where death is not the end. Rather, it is a moment between cycles. Something passes away so that something new can emerge.

Soon you will be able to read more about the film and its process on the Market Groseria web archive page. Until then, we invite you to let the work resonate with you.

Between the 1st and 8th of July, Katarzyna Kupiec, Malik Meyer, and Kolja Kraft worked on the performance and research of iluzoryczny/illusory. Here are a few analog impressions of their work phase in Emden, captured by artist Kolja Kraft.
