Long before Bluto, Popeye's main nemesis was The Sea Hag. I too plan to use her as his main foe in the upcoming adventures. In my story, she uses potions to make herself look younger. It is extremely painful and thus not something to do often or for long periods of time...

I've always loved westerns.

About a decade or so ago, I toyed with the idea of a graphic novel in the vein of the french classic, Blueberry, by Jean Giraud (aka Moebius). As with all my projects, I went in at 1000% doing research, fleshing out characters and story points... until... I moved on to another project... as I tend to do. 😂

But as I ALSO tend to do, I revisited this one over and over again through the years. This year I took it a bit further. And for the first time in in the life of this project, it has a name, Orphan Trail.

The main character, Amos Parker was originally fashioned after the character Charley Waite, played by Kevin Costner in Open Range.

There are still traces of that inspiration and a lot of others as well. But I feel he's become his own true character now... 🤠❤️

What's Popeye without his main nemesis, Bluto?

A younger version of Popeye. And his love interest, Olive Oyl.

When I was a kid, my favorite cartoon character was Popeye. Both on TV and in the comics. I loved those old pulpy adventures he got into. When the Robin Williams film came out, I was probably the only person on the planet who liked it. 😂

I eventually grew out of it, but I was always a fan of old-time adventure. When Popeye's public domain status started to arrive (it came earlier in Europe), I started to plan a project... as I tend to do... 😂 Who knows... maybe there are some adventures to be had?

Inktober Day 22. After the first rough week, I took time during my lunchbreak at work to make a daily piece. Because of life and stuff my Inktober schedule was not very consistent.
