Mooncake but make it croissant 😍

That's definitely gotta be less calories right? RIGHT?!

In either case, it's definitely lighter and fluffier!

Salted egg yolk custard folded between layers, pork floss topping it all off 🤤🤤🤤

BALI | Foraging in Ubud

Here's a Throwback for you! When we were staying at @mandapareserve earlier this year, the fantastic team took us out for a fun day of foraging with Chef Eka @sunarya89 🤗

They showed us some of the wild herbs, flowers, and fruits that is featured on the seasonal menu of their fine dining @kubuatmandapa

It was my first time seeing passionfruit in the wild (the purple alien looking plant), tasting a electric yellow flower (be warned), having a pop-up bar and a beautifully cooked meal, Balinese style in a jungle!

MOUNT ELIZA | Bau Bau Dining

Every so often, there's one part of a meal that ties the whole experience together. It could be at the start of a meal, during, or towards the end.

It could be a multitude of things, from the service, to the food, the laughs, and conversations.

We had such an experience at Bau Bau over the weekend. I'll share a proper post soon as well.

I just wanted to share this really beautiful Torta di Tagliatelle (or Torta Ricciolina hailing from Emilia-Romagna), a beautiful almond tart with caramelised orange, and crispy tagliatelle, along with these two sweet drops.

A beautiful glass of Amaro (DiBaldo 'Un Bitter) and a Sardinian liquor (The Myrtle Ricetta Storica by Silvio Carta).

MELBOURNE | Tokyo Tina

Tokyo Tina would be what Melburnians would classify as an, 'oldie but a goodie'. They've fed countless foodies in the last decade even before Windsor is as cool as it is now.

When we recently visited, on a lovely sunny Sunday (a rarity this winter), we were greeted with warmth, and a delicious feed.

We started with scallops, kingfish (so good), a lip-smacking crispy eggplant, lean striploin, and smoky broccolini.

The matcha tiramisu is not to be missed either, the texture and richness was too good.

Travels: Xiang Weng Hunan Cuisine, Shanghai.

The group behind Yong Fu Shanghai also have a specialist Hunan restaurant called Xiang Weng (湘翁). Located in the same precinct, in the opposite tower to Yong Fu in the North Bund, Xiang Weng showcases refined Hunan cuisine.

We commenced our meal with classic Hunan-styled cold dishes such as Grilled Chilli Abalone, Sliced Pork Jowl with Garlic Paste, and Cold Mixed Cabbage Salad.

It wouldn't be Hunan cuisine, if we weren't treated to a spectacular show of Hunan's special Steamed Fish Head. At Xiang Weng, this was served with aged jar-pickled chopped chilli. The other seafood courses we tried were completely new (and so delicious) to us. Stir-fried Fish Fillet with White Fermented Chilli, Sour and Spicy Sturgeon Fish Tendon, and a Braised Eel with Water Celery.

Those wanting more substantive protein options were equally treated to refined dishes of Changsha-styled Sauteed Pork with Chilli, and Hunan-style Braised Free-range Chicken.

Here in Australia, we only get a glimpse into what Hunan cuisine is, so we were very grateful to learn more. The one thing that did surprise us, was the cooking at Xiang Weng didn't rely on just the spicy flavours of what we expected from Hunanese cuisine.

There was a beautiful balance, flavours accentuated with smoking and curing of meats, pickled vegetables and chilli. Making this a thoroughly memorable meal for us.

Travels: Selection by Du, Shanghai.

We were very excited to have the opportunity to dine at Selection by Du when we were in Shanghai in April. The restaurant is awarded with 1-Michelin Star and is also recognised for its prestigious 3-Diamond status by the Black Pearl Guide.

The reason being that it focuses on Chaoshan (Teo Chew / Chiu Chow) cuisine. As we've grown up in Malaysia, we thought we would be well educated about this cuisine as it available all through South East Asia.

Clean flavours, fresh seafood, and braised meats. All this and more was what we experienced at Selection by Du. The best of Chaoshan showcased to us.

But what actually made us all pause were the presentation of the sweetest and biggest fruits before our meal even began. The blueberries, plums, honeydew, and even the pistachio biscuits had our attention rapt.

Signature cold dishes like Chaoshan Styled Marinated Crab, Spicy Beef Cheek, Blanched Geoduck, Teo Chew Pickled Mustard Greens were fantastic.

The stand-out dishes for us were the Crispy Golden Sea Cucumber, and the Crispy Signature Puning Tofu in Chicken Broth.

With spectacular views overlooking the night sky of Shanghai's skyline, it's hard not to feel pretty special, dining at Selection by Du.

Travels: Estro, Hong Kong.

Hong Kong has its fair share of amazing Chinese (and Cantonese) cuisine. But if you ever wanted a brief respite and introduce a little Italian flavour on your visit, then we highly recommend Estro.

The menu is strong and we found it hard to remember that we were in Hong Kong, and not in Italy! The quality of the produce used, the flavours, the passionate team, you would be hard pressed to find fault.

We especially loved the Squid, so beautifully tender and smokey, served with capers, mustard greens, and squid ink.

Look no further than to the Linguine with the juiciest Mantis Prawns full of roe, and the Bottoni, filled with buffalo robiola, saffron, chicken jus, and topped with black truffle. Both excellent representations of the skill of Chef Antimo Maria Merone.

Every course felt like a little love letter to Naples, where Chef Antimo was originally from, and we can't wait to return for another visit.

Perched high on the cliffs of Uluwatu, on the southern peninsula of Bali, with unhindered views of the wide Indian Ocean, Bvlgari Resort Bali has long been a luxurious escapade for celebrities and a dream destination for many.

Dining includes the Il Ristorante Niko Romito for Italian excellence, as well as the more casual experiences of the Sangkar Restaurant and the Pool Bar.

Do not pass up the opportunity to partake in the complimentary cultural activities, including the Kamasan Painting, Banjar Walk, and Melukat Ceremony, which gave us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in Balinese life.
