RAT KING 👑
The king of all the rats, it’s funny when my client Tab came to me and asked for a rat king I was envisioning a large rat with a crown. However when you go down the rabbit hole of rat king research you realise what it actually is…
.
A “rat king” is a rare and somewhat mysterious phenomenon in which multiple rats become entangled by their tails, forming a knot or cluster. This entanglement can be caused by sticky substances like sap, dirt, or feces, which, combined with the rats’ movement and the tight spaces they inhabit, lead to the tails becoming intertwined. Once the tails are stuck, the rats struggle to free themselves, often tightening the knot further
.
Historically, rat kings were seen as omens of bad luck, disease, or pestilence, especially during times when rats spread plague or other diseases. There are several documented examples, but the actual formation process is not fully understood and remains a subject of debate. While some believe rat kings occur naturally, others suggest human involvement or doubt their authenticity altogether, considering many as hoaxes or misunderstood natural occurrences.
