"It's not just about points."

You're right, but not the way youre asserting. That statement has become a convenient excuse for people who can't demonstrate measurable performance.

The reality is simple: someone who voluntarily invests hundreds of hours refining their skills, competing under pressure, and exposing their deficiencies will generally outperform someone who only trains when their job requires it.

Competition isn't a substitute for operational training. It's a means of developing and objectively measuring fundamental skills that operational performance depends on.

You can dismiss competition as a game, argue that the environment is different, or insist that it builds bad habits. None of those arguments changes the value of measurable improvement in speed, accuracy, visual processing, decision-making, and accountability.

Nobody is obligated to dedicate their personal time to becoming exceptional. But don't discredit those who do, or dismiss the standards they achieve simply because those standards expose deficiencies in your own performance.

You're right, it's not about points. It's about measurable outcomes with your performance on demand, without instructor subjectivity. by @zedtactical
