Cornelius Mashilane, known as Cornelius SA, is a self-taught DJ and producer from Soshanguve, South Africa, known for blending deep house and techno grooves with central African vocal elements. “One Day” marks his debut on Sounds Of Sirin, a four-track release built through collaborations with Zee Essential, PA NGU, Oliver Baptiste, Alan Green and Rudy Julius. On the inspiration behind the release, Cornelius SA says: “Inspiration often stems from an unexpected spark, a moment, feeling, or memory that ignites creativity. The process usually unfolds organically, weaving introspection with experimentation to shape something meaningful. In case you missed it - I had the pleasure of recording a set for Roots FM by @alkemy_prod & @iam_kamanga in the comfort of my home.

I decided to take a trip back in time for this set with music I used to play out and collect from 15 - 19 years old that also played a big part in shaping my sound today as an artist.

The power of working together to achieve the best possible piece of art. “Sinking Deep” is a record I had the blessing of doing with long time friend, collaborator and all round incredible artist - @jordanartsmusic as well as the equally amazing @wilhelm__richard from Germany.

Written as a song of hope born from struggle, it speaks to those moments when life feels heavy, when it seems impossible to see a way forward, when you fighting those silent battles that nobody knows about.

Centred in faith and belief that even in the darkest of times things can get better, the song plays as a reminder to “hold on” - That the hardest or darkest of times you go through shall pass and is part of the growth you have to go through in your own individual journey.

The same way for many of us, music has been there as a healing force in the hardest of times and in the best. We wanted this song to have the same effect - to be a beacon of light and healing for whoever it connects with.

Super grateful to everyone who has messaged us, shown love, supported and connected with the song already. 🤟🏽❤️‍🔥

Big love to @iam_kamanga for having me as the first guest on his new Roots FM show.

I had the absolute pleasure and honour recording a set that showcases a little of my roots as an artist. From DJ-ing in clubs from the age of 15, I got to take a trip down memory lane through my old Slappa CD pouch containing the music I collected and the songs I used to play out from 15 to 19 years old around my home town and in Johannesburg.

An absolute full circle moment playing this set with my baby boy next to me. I used to dream of being the artist I am today, which speaks and plays as a reminder that sometimes we forget that we right in the middle of the things we used to pray for and dream about.

Featuring records that were staples in my sets back then as well as some absolute classics that played a big part in shaping my sound and love for the art.

This one is for that 15 year old Zee Essential that started this journey in music.

Recapping this past month and a bit filled with the most magical times. I have so much of gratitude for all the special moments I got to spend.
