The people, the trees, the homes, the land. All of it.

Still assessing. Still documenting the experiences. Still listening to the stories. Still showing up. Still helping.

There is so much more to a hurricane than the destruction we can see.

There are the experiences that stay with people long after the winds have settled. The fear of having to leave your home in the middle of a hurricane, seeking shelter at a neighbor’s house, not knowing what you might return to. The uncertainty, the vulnerability, the emotional weight of it all.

And while the physical rebuilding has already begun, the emotional healing will need its own time, attention, and space.

That is where my heart and work are turning next: creating spaces for healing, processing, connection, and restoration.

Because recovery isn’t just about rebuilding homes, clearing debris, or restoring power.

It’s also about restoring a sense of safety, finding our grounding again, and allowing ourselves to process what we’ve experienced.

The storm may have passed, but for many, the experience is far from over.

And healing, too, is part of disaster relief. ❤️

Not Everything Broken Is Meant to Be Repaired.

I’ve been thinking about storms lately. Storms like Isaias.

The kind that come with wind and rain, uprooting trees, tearing down fences, and leaving behind pieces of what once stood.

And the kind we experience within ourselves.

There is no denying the devastation a storm can bring. For some, it takes everything. And there is no beautiful metaphor that can replace a home, restore a lifetime of memories, or make sense of losing what little one had.

But I’ve also been thinking about something else.

What if, sometimes, the storm reveals what we’ve been holding on to long after it stopped serving us?

What if that old, broken fence was never meant to be repaired?

What if it was time to build a new one?

Not a taller fence built out of fear.
Not a stronger wall meant to keep the world away.

But a new boundary.
One built with intention.
One that protects our peace without closing our hearts.
One that allows us to decide what belongs in our space and what no longer does.

Because sometimes we spend so much time trying to restore things to the way they were that we forget to ask ourselves whether the way they were was ever truly good for us.

We repair.
We rebuild.
We hold on.

Not always because something is worth saving, but sometimes because it’s familiar.

And perhaps that’s the invitation hidden in some of life’s storms.

Not to celebrate what was destroyed.
Not to pretend the damage didn’t hurt.
Not to rush the process of healing.

But to recognize that rebuilding doesn’t always have to mean recreating.

Sometimes it means releasing.
Sometimes it means choosing differently.
Sometimes it means honoring what once served its purpose without insisting it serve us forever.

And sometimes, the most beautiful thing we can build after a storm isn’t what we lost.

It’s what we finally give ourselves permission to create.

Not everything broken is meant to be repaired. Because the idea has always been to die with memories not regrets. So
not every new beginning needs to look like what came before it. ❤️ by @zeebeeyoutiful

Festival Update 💛 / Actualización del festival 💛

After the hurricane, we’ve been assessing conditions at The Landing and listening to the needs of our community. We’ve made the heart felt decision to postpone the Emerald Coast Hispanic Heritage Festival to Saturday, October 31, 2026.

We know this is another change, and we’re grateful for the patience of our performers, vendors, sponsors, partners, and everyone who has been looking forward to celebrating with us. Your safety and the community’s recovery remain at the heart of this decision.

We’re also exploring how the festival can create space to support our neighbors as they recover. We’ll share confirmed event details and ways to take part as soon as we can.

También estamos explorando cómo el festival puede crear un espacio para apoyar a nuestros vecinos mientras se recuperan. Compartiremos los detalles confirmados del evento y las formas de participar tan pronto como sea posible.

Thank you for standing with us. We look forward to coming together to celebrate our heritage, our resilience, and one another. 💚

Gracias por acompañarnos. Esperamos reunirnos para celebrar nuestra herencia, nuestra resiliencia y a nuestra comunidad. 💚

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the original stewards of these lands, the resilience of Indigenous communities, and the traditions, languages, and cultures that continue to thrive today.

May we not only celebrate Indigenous heritage, but also listen, learn, respect, and protect the land and the living cultures that remain deeply connected to it.

🌎 The land remembers. The rhythm continues. The culture lives. Good night and until next year… in the meantime it’s Indigenous Peoples Day EVERYDAY!
