my latest romantasy obsession 💫🗡️❤️‍🔥🎶

my last read was the sweetest fiend, which has ended up being one of my fave reads this year!

this dark romantasy had an immersive story based on the pied piper legend (our mmc is a mysterious musician with magical abilities). having known about the pied piper story from when I was younger, I was excited to pick this book up >>

I loved that our fmc, who is half fae and half bane had unique magical abilities herself, where she can essentially read people’s stars, so she can find out people’s character traits/truths

the slow burn was so good, and the chemistry and banter between estinya and varrik was so well written. I eat up an enemies to lovers every time 😂

“You infuriate me, Piper.”
“You enrapture me, blight.”

the twist at the end was shocking, so I’m excited for the next book in this duology to come out >>

the knight and the moth is the perfect read for autumn 🍂✨

rachel gillig’s writing is beautiful and I loved this unique and atmospheric world and story

the slow burn was so good and I loved their interactions, from the more humorous to the sweeter ones. i also really liked the found family in this story

but the highlight of this book was the gargoyle !! (who I won’t name) - his jokes and banter genuinely made me laugh throughout 😂🖤

this one’s worth a read, Bartholomew!

hilarious, messy, and sometimes chaotic, problematic summer romance is a fun and summery read set against the scenic backdrop of italy 💓💐✨💌

the romance in this book really surprised me, as it was more of an emotional connection, with a slow burn - this was straight up my alley, who is why I enjoyed this book more than ‘not in love’ >>

our mc maya is witty and her communication skills were refreshing! she didn’t hold back and I love her for it. connor was what ali hazelwood always nails in her mmcs - tall, broody, and handsome, but with a very protective and caring side. their relationship was wholesome, and I particularly loved the aspect of them communicating on a deeper level over time.

the other characters’, with their quirky personalities and different connections to each other added so much to the story - I loved seeing familiar faces from ‘not in love’. the chaotic scenes with these characters were brilliant!

take all of the above and set it in a charismatic and scenic town in sicily (I want to visit), and it makes for a really enjoyable summer read.

beautiful, profound, and nostalgic all at once, sounds like love feels like a warm hug on a summer evening ✨🎶💓🐚

ashley poston’s writing is always so beautiful - she captures emotions in a unique and meaningful way!

the main characters are layered, and we get to see their hopes, ambitions, and fears. growing up can be confusing, with all of the obstacles that life can throw your way. a key takeaway from this story for me is that it’s never too late to change paths..

this was an lovely read with the perfect balance of character development and love stories, whether that be familial love, friendship, or the swoon-worthy, slow burn romance.

my copy of this book arrived early for some reason (which never happens), but I’m so glad I got to experience this beautiful story 💌

“It’s not given, it’s not stolen - love is borrowed, she always said. It’s borrowed, and how lucky we are to be afraid of losing it.”

rewind it back 🎧💌💿♥️💫

happy sunday! this was one of my fave reads of last month - here are my thoughts:

this had everything I loved in a good romance - angst, yearning, a well developed backstory, found family.

friends to lovers to strangers to lovers is one of my fave tropes, and the flashback scenes really helped shape hallie and rio’s story.

as always, I loved seeing the characters from the other books - the found family scenes were so wholesome! as bittersweet as it is, this was the perfect end to the windy city series.

as a girl who had a dystopian phase, I was super excited when I first heard about silver elite, so it’s actually been on my tbr since january, prior to all the hype ✨💌🖤⚔️

is it worth the hype? here are my thoughts:

the world building was easy to understand and fast paced - it’s important to remember this is a dystopian, not fantasy novel. despite a lot of books in this genre having similar worlds, the characters lies, secrets, and betrayals made this a really interesting read.

wren is strong willed and impulsive, which made her a very interesting main character with the different situations she would get herself in. she is ‘modified’ with multiple abilities, and has had to hide her identity her whole life, so I liked seeing her thought process and the lengths she would go to protect herself and her loved ones.

cross is rough but tender, lethal but compassionate - a very layered character, which gave him an air of unpredictability. I liked seeing his softer side around wren and how he fell for her first. their quick wit and banter was so good.

I really liked trying to guess who ‘wolf’ was - wren’s childhood best friend who she’s never actually met and only communicated with telepathically. there are some good misdirects in the story, so his identity wasn’t too predictable. the side characters (kaine!) were all unique and intriguing, whether they were friends wren made or enemies.

the twists in the story as it progressed made this a page turner! I’m excited to see where the story goes and particularly to learn more about wren’s abilities in action.

read if you like:
🖤 fast paced
🖤 dystopian
🖤 secret identity

₊⊹⁀➴ how many loves do you get in a lifetime? 🐝💌💐✨

I decided to reread magnolia parks and remembered why I loved it so much >>

magnolia and bj’s love is messy and so very complicated, but also tender and beautiful. they are intertwined in a way that silences the world around them until it’s just the two of them. they truly give soulmates energy.

the quotes in this book are beautiful - the yearning and inner monologues are everything !!

I’m currently reading the next book in the series, I’ve wanted to reread it for a while 🥹 side note: I got matcha again and it’s really growing on me - this was a strawberry shortcake matcha and it was so good 🍓 by @zees.library
