The Mercy Of Fluidity

The self is a fluid thing. There is no one version of the self. We are constantly changing, growing and becoming. Once we accept that to be, is to be ever changing, we can relinquish the preconceptions of the self. We can become
fluid. This fluidity is the truest form of kindness. To be fluid we must show ourselves mercy. To be merciful we must remain fluid.

My project explores how presence is a form of kindness. When one is fully present, they are open to change. They are fluid. Through being right where your feet are, you are simultaneously open to everywhere. I show, through this body of work, how being present is a tool for growth and change. The lines of meditation that have become my work allow me to be fully present within the process of creation. They provide me with the mindfulness to be both in the space of my immediate effort and in the spiritual space to expand my mind.

I made an animation on super 8 film the other day in a wonderful workshop ran by @phil.evans.film
I found the process fun as it leaves a lot of room for experimenting. It's nice to see what I viewed as mistakes actually look really interesting. by @zeestickman

15cm x 15cm India ink with black and gold pen on handmade paper strips.

This piece was made by combining two separate pieces of mine. I disliked both of the pieces so, in attempt to create something new, I cut them into 15cm x 1cm strips and wove them together.
At the moment I'm experimenting with reparative processes within my work. by @zeestickman
