When I was in high school, I heard a band play Pat Metheny’s “The First Circle”, and I was so blown away I said “I need to get serious about this whole music thing.” If you knew me then, you probably remember me walking around doing the clapping thing at the beginning of the song, I might have even taught it to a couple of you. In my final semester of grad school, I got to perform it. Pat is my favorite musician of all time, this was the first record I ever bought, and learning this piece has made me feel so grateful for everything I’ve gotten to experience over the last handful of years.
