Hello; we're still here!

Jack wrote an absolutely fun and thrilling piece for Pierrot ensemble (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano) plus percussion called Of Cat and Mouse. We had so much fun learning and performing it, and the TMTA Convention premiere was a huge success. The piece was very enthusiastically received and highly recommended for submission to MTNA!

So, we’re not done! The next step is to create a professional recording of Of Cat and Mouse for submission to MTNA for consideration for the MTNA Distinguished Composer of the Year award. The recording needs to be completed and submitted before the end of this year.

We are currently scheduling additional rehearsals and need to book a professional recording studio and hire an audio engineer to facilitate the recording session and produce the professional-quality recording required for the MTNA submission.

Help us keep going!

Some of y'all have been asking me why I haven't scheduled any shows for a while. It simultaneously warms my heart and makes me feel guilty. It's nice that you still want to come to my shows. But I do feel bad for basically going off the grid again.

Part of it is because a lot major things have been going on in my life. But another (much bigger) part is that I can't afford to put on any more shows at the moment.

Ticket sales aren't enough to pay my musicians what they're worth (or cover things like venue rentals, etc), and I refuse to beg for large sums of money every single concert and season. I also refuse to set high ticket prices and financially block any of you out of my shows. This needs to be sustainable for everyone, you included.

Recurring Patreon support can change that. You can subscribe for as little as $1/month and I promise you it will make a huge difference. Stay tuned for more posts, and feel free to send me a message if you need help setting up your subscription. And please ask everyone you know if they'd be willing to spare a dollar a month to make Zelda Presents not only sustainable, but create an entire support system for our musicians. When everyone pitches in, all the small things add up to something big and wonderful!

The fundraiser for Jack Benson's latest piece, Of Cat & Mouse, is also still going! The TMTA premiere was a huge success, and we are moving on to the recording part of the project. If you've got extra cash to spare just once, send it here!

*apologies in advance for this unhinged photoshopping* 😂 i am very sick and sleep deprived 🫠

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your support, in all the ways, for all the reasons. I have several updates to share, but I've been in zombie hibernate mode and don't have enough energy to put all the words together. In the meantime, please keep sharing our fundraiser. The premiere was SO well received, and if we can get this fully funded, we just might have a shot at going national and performing in St. Louis (and scheduling a public performance that you can attend here)!

Also: GIANT gratitude to our musicians - Allison, Jeff, Andrew, Ærin, & Slava - y'all are a dream team, and I am grateful for your kindness, patience, energy, and time. Being able to work with people like you is literally me living my best life. (I did not have the brain power to phrase that in a way that made more sense, sorry... 😅) And thank you again Jack (and Lou Ann!) for your friendship, support, and trust.

Hello, friends! I know I've been quiet for a while... So much has been happening and (ironically) I've been too busy to post! I'm hoping to change that soon! One thing that will help me out a LOT is volunteers! If any of you happen to have free time and a desire to help out your local musicians (not just me), send me a message! There's a whole variety of (easy) ways to help. Thank you so much for all the support you've already given me and my colleagues all these years!
