Molly Tanzer’s newest novella ‘And Side by Side They Wander’ did not disappoint. The ethics of museum curation/collection, art heists, aliens, and it ended perfectly.

Rhae Lynn Barnes has a way of writing that is completely captivating and raw. Non-fiction isn’t usually my thing but after speaking with her at the LA Times Festival of Books it was clear this would be an informative and well-written account of blackface minstrelsy and the structure of white supremacy that allowed it to exist openly across two centuries of America’s history.

She’s here and she’s mine 😭 I’ve been looking for this book for years now, it’s been my own white whale. I’d track sale sites but as you can imagine, when there’s only 500 of them, prices can be…unjustifiable. Well, needless to say I finally saw a price I could justify. She’ll be well-loved and much read (and I can feel less paranoid about my crumbling mass market paperbacks).

Finished The Red Winter, and this copy has to return to the library…but I might need to get a copy for home. It’s become Ginko’s emotional support book over the last week and he’s never done with any other book before. Thoughts @camsullivanwrites ? by @zemthingss

Are they not the cutest little babies in the whole wide world? Fig is so brave for food and Maple has her favorite shelf in the garden window so she may observe the comings and goings of us plebeians.

And in the second photo, you can see just how hard Maple kneads me. Not pictured: the wet spot she leaves in or near the armpit of my shirts when she sucks on them.

I love her, she is perfect. Refusing her is not an option. I may, however, have to cut her nails.

Taking a break from eARCs to tackle some library holds (I swear I wiped that shelf down but nothing is ever spare from the cat hair 😅).

They like hanging out and bug hunting near the books, so they’re honorary book girlies 🥰

May is filled with ARCs and audiobooks, but I’ve always got time when my library holds roll in 🙌
