Happy Birthday to my strong, beautiful, and resilient sister Kathy! Birthdays become even more special when cancer becomes a part of journey. The past two years have been difficult as Kathy Smith Pivonka has endured treatment for leukemia (ALL) but we are nearing the end of hospitals, PICC lines, and medications/chemotherapy. Kathy will finish treatment in mid November and we couldn't be more grateful. We are also grateful for organization such as Blood Cancer United that provide services and support for patients and family and support research life saving treatments such as the immunotherapy that has saved Kathy's life! In honor of Kathy's birthday and Blood Cancer Awareness month I am sponsoring a birthday fundraiser for Blood Cancer United. I will be participating in Disneys Marathon Weekend in January as a member of Team in Training.
