In a world full of noise, some songs still whisper to the broken. This is my tribute to the sound of inner chaos.

The Emptiness Machine.

“I let you cut me open, just to watch me bleed
Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be
Don’t know why I’m hoping, so ******* naive
Falling for the promise of the emptiness machine “

Mike Shinoda | Linkin Park
“Remember all the sadness and frustration… and let it go.”

What started as a portrait slowly turned into a tribute to the music, memories, and community that connected so many people across different parts of the world.

There’s something surreal about making art for a community built around music that shaped so many lives.

Thank you @pascalwilpers @streamerzone, see you on the other side, soon. by @zerabavel

An unforgettable night, it was more than a concert, it was a shared emotion. Grateful to have witnessed LINKIN PARK live. Memories that stay forever.

THE ANATOMY OF SUFFERING

‘sometimes, the deepest wounds are the ones nobody can see, and the loudest screams are the ones nobody can hear’

The woman screaming - the pain we can no longer keep inside. The one covering her ears refuses to listen to the world’s cruelty, hatred, and lies. The blindfolded one chooses not to see the darkness surrounding her. And the woman carrying them all represents how we silently live with these emotions every day. The deep wounds on either side of her body - the pain inflicted by life, people, and it leaves scars far beneath the surface. The cracks spreading across her skin - the slow, invisible damage caused by years of suffering, disappointment, and emotional struggles.

From Ashes to New – Mat Madiro

Some commissions become more than just artwork. This is one of them.

This portrait of @matmadiro from @fromashestonew was commissioned by my good friend @sharpedgeslp , whom I had the privilege of meeting in Hamburg, Germany 🇩🇪 . Through his passion for the band, he introduced me to their music, and I quickly came to understand why it resonates so deeply with so many people.

From Ashes to New has become a source of strength and hope for countless listeners. Their music speaks to those who have faced adversity, reminding them that even after life’s darkest moments, there is always the possibility of rebuilding and moving forward.

It was a genuine honour to create this portrait for the band. Knowing that they appreciated the artwork makes the experience even more meaningful.

As an artist here in Bahrain, I’m grateful to play a small part in introducing more people here to their music and sharing the impact their message continues to have around the world.

A special thank you to Louie for trusting me with this commission and for opening the door to a band that continues to inspire so many.

Medium: Charcoal on 180 GSM paper
Dimensions: Approximately 70 × 80 cm

Chapter 01

What started as a journey for my art, then concert turned into days filled with great company, endless conversations, laughter, and memories that I’ll carry for a very long time. From matching merch and long hours in the queue to meetups, city walks, and late-night conversations about music, every moment seemed to add another story to tell.

What made this experience special wasn’t just the show itself, but the people who shared it. Spending time with friends, meeting up again and again throughout the week, talking about Linkin Park, sharing favourite songs and concert memories, and simply enjoying each other’s company made the whole trip feel bigger than any single event. The concert was phenomenal and the tour was executed perfectly, but it was everything happening around it that made it unforgettable.

I’m also grateful that my artwork became part of this journey. Watching it travel through different hands, spark conversations, and connect with people who share the same passion for music was something I never expected.

Thank you to everyone who was part of it. For the laughs, the conversations, the queue adventures, the music discussions, and the memories. The concert may be over, but I already miss you all. Until the next show, the next city, and the next adventure. And most of all thanks to @pascalwilpers for making this happen. Thanks for trusting in me, for the artwork.

“The music brought us together, but the memories we made along the way are what I’ll remember most.”

Chapter 2 …. Shall follow…. by @zerabavel

@linkinpark

This reel is just a collection of one-second memories, but every clip brings me back to an unforgettable week in Hamburg.

I’m grateful that a small piece of my artwork became part of the experience, connecting me with fellow fans who share the same passion for music. That’s something I’ll always appreciate.

Some memories fade. These ones won’t.

Until the next city. Until the next show. 🤘

Mike Shinoda | Linkin Park
(A gift from Pascal to Paula) 🇩🇪

Pascal wanted to create something special for Paula. Hidden throughout the drawing are pieces of Linkin Park, Paula’s story, memories, loss, survival… and ridiculous inside jokes that make no sense unless you were there.

16•09 — Paula’s birthday
May 2015 — 11 years old, beginning her journey with Linkin Park.
1996 — the beginning of Linkin Park.

LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST — the song that opened that door for her.

TOOTHPASTE CAUGHT IN THE LIDL — somehow she survived the European tour with that outfit.

🔑 Keys open doors 🚪 — Pascal to explain.

Yum Yum Chicken & Two-minute noodles - No comment: 😏

WATCHING AS I FALL — her favourite from Post Traumatic.

BROKEN — a reminder that what we see outside doesn’t always reveal what someone carries within.

TURTLE — Paula recently lost one of her turtles, so it quietly found a permanent place here.

JULY 20, 2017 — Chester. 🖤 ONE MORE LIGHT. Sometimes one light matters more than we can explain.

WHO IS JOE??? 😂 .Two stories.

1. Joe Hahn saw my Mike Shinoda drawing and jokingly acted like he didn’t know who it was. Naturally… Mike needed revenge.

2. Then at the barricade Paula introduced me: “This is John. He’s the artist.” ….. Joe: “I’m Joe.” 😂

THE BACKGROUND: They aren’t there simply to fill the black space. They’re fragments of the music surrounding the story. Leave Out All the Rest, Numb, What I’ve Done, Waiting for the End, The Emptiness Machine and more.

Under UV light, another layer appears:

LP | “It’s scary what a smile can hide.”

Not everything that matters is immediately visible. Sometimes you have to look closer. Sometimes you have to know the story. And sometimes… you need to see in a completely different spectrum to understand certain things in life.

This was never simply a portrait of Mike Shinoda. It became a drawing about music, memory, friendship, loss, survival, laughter and all those tiny details that become priceless because there’s a story attached to them.
