A predator doesn’t always create fear first. Sometimes, they create a world that feels exciting, welcoming, and impossible to leave.

In the first episode of You’re Not Alone, The 1in6 Podcast, Anthony Edwards reflects on how grooming, belonging, and fear can become deeply intertwined.

I haven’t posted here since 2020. Here’s why I’m back.

For most of my life I carried something I couldn’t say out loud: I was sexually abused as a boy. It took me decades to name it, and even longer to understand how much it shaped everything after.

So my friend Beau Friedlander and I made a podcast with a nonprofit we care and support, Zero Abuse Project and the 1in6 Project. It’s called You’re Not Alone, and it’s for the 1 in 6 men who have lived something like this, and for the people who love them. Honest conversations. No shame. A lot of hope.

Episode 1 drops today.

And if any of this is your story too: you’re not alone. Free, confidential support is at 1in6.org, anytime. 💙 @1in6org by @zeroabuseproj

52,500 people came to SurvivorSpace last year.

Most of them came alone. Most of them typed something into a search bar they had never said out loud.

If you're a survivor reading this, you are welcome here. Always.

The first 72 hours after a child discloses determine almost everything.

Most jurisdictions don't have the people, the training, or the tools to get it right.

That's what our Center for Child Abuse Investigation and Prosecution is built for.

Where did your child’s teacher, pediatrician, pastor, or social worker learn to recognize abuse?

For many professionals, that training happens too late. After they are already in the field and facing real cases involving real children.

Zero Abuse Project’s Center for Education & Workforce Development is working to change that.

Through Child Advocacy Studies (CAST), continuing education, and faculty support, we help prepare future and current professionals to recognize, respond to, and prevent child maltreatment.

CAST programs are now active at more than 100 colleges, universities, professional schools, and seminaries across 30+ states.

Because child protection training should not start after the crisis.

Behind every child protected is a network of professionals and organizations working together on behalf of children. Through our five centers, Zero Abuse Project helps strengthen that network.

This summer, we’re breaking down each center so you can see the full scope of the work your support makes possible. First up: The Jacob Wetterling Resource Center, working year-round to prevent child abuse through education, prevention curricula, and advocacy.

Last week, our Thirty for Children Dallas-Fort Worth dinner brought together passionate advocates united by one mission. Champions for children filled the room hearing powerful words from CEO Jeff Dion, special guest Anthony Edwards, and Dallas County ADA Amy Derrick.

We also recognized our friends at Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center for completing their ChildFirst Forensic Interview Protocol Train-The-Trainer Accreditation! The work this team does to protect children and support survivors is truly inspiring.

Together, we can end child abuse! Every time a kid logs on without guardrails, they're entering a neighborhood we can't see.

This June, for #InternetSafetyMonth, we're asking you to take action:
1️⃣ Have one real conversation with a kid about online safety
2️⃣ Share a resource with a parent, teacher, or caregiver
3️⃣ Support the work protecting kids every day

Internet safety is a community responsibility. Let's build that community together.
