Over the last few months, I've had the honor and privilege of being a "House on Fire" artist in residency that has completely reignited the fire in my heart after years of feeling there was nothing I could do. Over these last few months, we have engaged in elevated conversations with the help of professional support and the warmth of our community.At the beginning of this residency, we were asked what we were resisting, a subject that I wasn't too sure of . So over the course of the following week, I really sat and thought about it . And what I came to the conclusion of, I am resisting losing one's self . Losing your ability to REALLY FEEEEEEEEL, good or bad. And ironically, I was listening to some of my inspirational videos that I listened to while I work out, and heard a quote by Carl Jung about shadow work. He spoke of how our Shadow is the side that houses our trauma and shame. I've never been a fan of Andrew Tate but seeing those videos of him whipping a girl when he was 25 and the girl was 14 or 15 and the ish he was saying... absolutely disgusting you cowas a** punk, and it only confirms why I don't f*** with that energy. As a man, I will be the first to admit that I haven't always been the best version of myself that I could have been and I will spend the rest of my life making up for that but I can't do this on my own.MEN, WE HAVE SOME SERIOUS WORK TO DO. No excuses, no "I've never been that kind of guy before" or "I would never do anything like that" or "women do the same thing". We need to stop dancing around the damn problem and be "men" about it and do something about it.None of that matters, what matters is we have the power to initiate change not only for us but for everyone we share this Blue Marble with.WE... This morning, I woke up with this overwhelming hopelessness weighing heavy on my heart. Sometimes, its all just too much.I thank God every day for giving me the courage to find the strength to stick to my disciplines and allow me to continue to see light even as darkness surrounds me. It feels like I'll never overcome this phase. 😮‍💨The future is hard to see sometimes, but that doesn't mean that it's not in reaching distance. Rap America Project 2026 ended with a bang! Thank you to everyone who came to the showcase, thank you to all the staff that made this possible, and thank you Boise Hive for providing a safe space to grow music. 🎶 Thank you most of all to the people who decided to participate this year fact that you came at all to learn and to be apart of the community means everything to us as we build the Hip Hop Culture in Boise. It was wonderful getting to know each of you, your styles, and see how you blossomed and persevered. Showcasing songs was not a requirement, so thank you to those that were brave enough to step on stage for the world to see you. We may have helped, but it was you who worked hard, were brave enough to try something new and didn’t give up.
