As a chapter, we extend our deepest love and condolences to Jalen’s family, friends, students, and everyone who knew and loved him. We also send our heartfelt condolences to Tau Epsilon Nu Fraternity, Inc. during this difficult time.

Although Jalen wasn’t from New Orleans, he made a meaningful impact on our city through his work at Alice M. Harte Charter School as an Assistant Director. He cared deeply about his students and community, leaving a lasting difference in the lives of those around him.

Jalen was also a Jackson State University alum and clarinet player who made a significant impact on the section, the band, and the people around him. His influence went far beyond playing the clarinet. He built meaningful relationships, contributed to the culture, and left an impression on everyone who had the opportunity to know him, play alongside him, or learn from him.

We are grateful for the impact he made and the memories he left behind. We will continue to keep his family, friends, students, Tau Epsilon Nu Fraternity, Inc., the Jackson State University family, and all who loved him in our thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jalen “Big Smoove” Cromwell. 🕊️💙 Your impact will always be remembered. by @zetapsinphio

Happy Juneteenth from the Zeta Psi Chapter of Nu Phi Omicron!❤️💚💛

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally informed of their freedom. Today, we celebrate freedom, honor our ancestors, and recognize the legacy they left for generations to come.
As we commemorate this historic day, we celebrate the beauty and richness of Black culture and acknowledge the sacrifices that made it possible for future generations to thrive. May we continue to walk in unity, empower those around us, and leave a legacy that inspires generations to come. by @zetapsinphio
