The energy in the room that night was something else. Lot’s of new faces but everyone was there for the same reason and that’s what it’s all about. 🧡

The inaugural recording for our @thequivr residency arrives with @zhang1e_ & @ethnjohnsn 🏢🪩
In Meanjin, it’s rare for techno and minimal to come alive within an intimate bar context. The laneway blurred the line between dancefloor and artist, with the crowd becoming a part of the mix.

Zhangie & Ethan’s mix flaunts their eclectic taste in refined techno. Their shared appreciation for Efdemin and mid-2010’s Ostgut Ton records was in inspiration going into the night and is evident throughout the course of the set.
The initial building phases of the mix flows between minimal and ‘housier’ techno cuts as they lay a foundation for the last hour of raw and emotional main floor techno.

Half of the brain behind the @dissentbne operation, Zhangie is a key player in building Meanjin’s music scene… be sure to head to their upcoming show in which they have booked Berlin-based, contemporary underground icon Reka Zalan.

Stay tuned for more Phrygia x Quivr recordings to be released over the coming weeks.

At just 21 years old, @zhang1e_ has established himself as Meanjin’s most prolific & authentic techno artist.
He delivers a layered and well-constructed hour that flies by whilst hitting the listener with several emotional turns. Zhangie’s deep understanding of the genre allows him to pick the perfect time to pull the figurative trigger on the night-defining moments.
The mix builds over the course of the hour into an exhilarating closing track that leaves the listener begging for more.
The co-founder of Brisbane’s staple techno event - @dissentbne - is due for a big summer 25/26 and we can’t wait to see what he has in stall.

So excited to play a closing set on this very special occasion! I will be celebrating my 21st birthday alongside with Dissent which is turning 1 at this warehouse party.

It's hard to believe it's already been a year since we started Dissent, can't wait for the next chapter and what we can do after this milestone! Thanks to everyone who's played a part in the past year, nothing would've been possible without the community around us 🫶🏼 taken in Meanjin by @zhang1e_

Tomorrow is a big day for @dissentbne as we host our first international headliner @altinbas.t at Dissent Klubnacht. It is a pleasure to bring such a well respected name of the industry to our city and I'm more than excited to have the opportunity to close the stage for this one. Looking forward to see everyone on the dance floor tomorrow and let's make this a night to remember :) taken in Meanjin by @zhang1e_

Recording from my set at the last @echochamberbne is now out on soundcloud. Link is in my bio.

It was such a unique experience playing in an abondoned bunker with an amazing and energetic crowd, my dark and hypnotic sound worked so well with the location it's like a match made in heaven. It is always so rewarding to take the crowd on a true journey with you with the music you are passionate about, appreciate everyone that were in the bunker that night. Hope you all enjoy the recording and I will see you at the next one :) taken in Meanjin by @zhang1e_
