Week one done, let’s recap!

The year has officially started with our
BA,MA & TaZ students reuniting for an inspiring event to welcome the newcomers and celebrate the beginning of a new journey!

Laughter, excitement and curiosity were at the core of this get-together, setting the trend for a promising season to come🙌🏻

We’re starting the new semester and we are already back on stage! ✨ For the first time, our new BA1 students will perform alongside our BA2 students, presenting works by Compagnie Linga, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Jill Johnson / William Forsythe, Tabea Martin and Filipe Portugal.

|| INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT ||

These past two years have been filled with learning, sharing, discovering and growing, both as dancers and as people.
Over the past year, our students took on the challenging and exciting journey of auditioning. They prepared, travelled, faced uncertainty and continued to believe in the paths they were building.

Today, we are incredibly proud to share that all 20 students are beginning their internships with dance companies across Europe this season.
Twenty students. Twenty individual journeys. Twenty new chapters waiting to unfold.

Congratulations to our 3rd year student, Naia Cascales (Spain 🇪🇸)
She will be interning in Germany with @tanzgelsenkirchen for the season 26/27, under the direction of Muhammed Kaltuk.

“These past two years have been a time of learning, growing, and finding joy — something I wil carry with me to many places to come.

I’m leaving as a different Naia, with new stories, new tools, and so many more people I admire.

I’m deeply grateful for everything this experience has given me, and so excited to discover what awaits me in this new chapter.”

Congratulations to our 3rd year student, Paolo Marchegiani (Italy 🇮🇹)
He will be interning in Germany with @theater_und_orchester_hd for the season 26/27, under the direction of Tim Plegge.

“Studying at the ZHdK has been amazing. Loads of good classes and great people to inspire me and accompany me during my growth journey.
My time here has reminded me why we keep doing this: to experience the energy in the studio within the group and the synergy between us and the public on stage.
Now there’s even much more to explore, with the internship and everything that comes after it, and I cannot wait to go outside and enjoy all of it!”

Congratulations to our 3rd year student, Tommaso Bracci (Italy 🇮🇹)
He will be interning in Austria with @oper_graz for the season 26/27, under the direction of Dirk Elwert.

“This is not an ending, but a continuous unfolding.
These past two years rekindled a light within me. They gave me the chance to reconnect with the most authentic version of myself.
My gratitude goes to the teachers and the entire staff, whose dedication made this experience unforgettable.
To my colleagues, my friends, every artist who inspired me, my family, and myself.
Now I’m excited to begin my final year at Oper Graz, carrying everything these two years have given me, learning from those around me, and continuing to do what I’ve always wanted to do: dance.”

Congratulations to our 3rd year student, Ulysse Bertin (France 🇫🇷)
He will be interning in the Netherlands with @ickamsterdam for the season 26/27, under the direction of Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten.

“Two years already… I still have a hard time to believe this chapter is now coming to its conclusion. After this long but ephemeral journey, I am proud to realize that I am a different dancer now, and most of all a different human being.
I am forever grateful to all the moments I lived here in Zürich and to all the people I met who offered me their love, support, advices and teachings that will help me go forward and enjoy what comes next.
Thank you everyone, you were magnificent. I’ll never forget you. 🙏🏼💙“

“ZHdK is the place where structure became a healthy, fun, and enriching path to freedom as an artist. I am filled with gratitude for every teacher, classmate, and choreographer who supported me and helped me grow, both as a person and as a dancer. This place taught me that I can be anyone and achieve anything when I put my mind to it. I now feel complete and ready for the next step in my journey as an artist.“
