Extravagant flashes enveloped the oversized tees, sequin dresses, Pit Vipers, and spilled drinks. These rays, fluid and dexterous, danced in perfect unison with the thick, muscular loops spun in rapid succession on stage. An artists eye weaves elegant fantasias from this Waltz. Curating experiences of presence and oneness with self is no simple task. We conjure, out of empty space, products of the psychodrama and delusion of human experience and they take hold of our lives, if we let them. Here, in time and space, silence is the serpent and stillness is the forbidden fruit. Yet, in the barrage of beeps and boops, flashing lights and spinning records, waves of joy and peace crash over us as we dance and sing in harmony with our DJ. The past melts away to pave the path for the non-existent future and it happens in the now. When you feel it, it jolts you for a moment - Like an etch-a-sketch, this recognition washes away the virus of society’s conditioning. The trials and tribulations, the burdens of life, and the stain of original sin is washed away; it is us calling the shots, and not our suffering. This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for a lot! I am grateful to have had an opportunity to reflect on the past few years teaching and to see the immense growth in the amazing young men that I’ve had the privilege to teach. As a teacher, it is a point of personal pride to see your former students finding their voice and shaping the world around them, one small step at a time. Maybe it’s crazy - but I can’t help feeling that I’m best suited serving as a catalyst for the next generation’s impact. Opportunities to pursue my own personal ventures and advance my own career have come and gone (and still keep rolling in!), but hearing updates from my former students truly makes the profession feel like it’s worth sticking with. But who knows, maybe things are in flux? Maybe it’s time to be a little selfish? Maybe OpenAI’s board wants to try a little sizzle and a lotta firecracker to run the whole shebang?

Go set the world ablaze with your passion, grit, and talents, people! Be alive!

BTW: podcast release date TBD, but prolly post-December! It’s either going to be crazy and you’ll hate it, or it’s great and you’ll love it. I’m having fun either way.

Remember the feeling of staying up past your bedtime, secretly watching Adult Swim? When life was simpler and we were naïve to the world’s woes? When rampant cackling into the deep digital abyss brought blissful aches and pains, only subsiding by the tightest embrace of your twisted, cramping abdomen?

Mom and dad brined in deepening slumbers, divers into an unfettered scene while we frolicked around the melodic landscape, psychonauts thru the bizarre brilliance of the psychedelic, steampunk, gundam, anime, claymation, minimalist galaxy of realized dreams on Channel 44. It was a place where passion, frustration, hilarity, love, and absurdity collided every night, but was bound to the 10-2 time slot.

Nostalgia isn’t a worthy enough moniker to capture the depth of that feeling.

Anyways – here’s a piece inspired by the adult swim commercials. Feel the love yall.
