EXTREMELY humbled and honored today as I gave this years Convocation (ceremony for the beginning of the semester) Keynote speach at my Alma mater, the one and only Delaware State University.

It’s full circle moments like this that really make you realize that “Your Steps are Ordered” and your plans for your life are not yours. As I welcomed the class of 2028 to the number 3 HBCU in the country I was reminded of my time there on campus. More content coming, but a snippet of my remarks is below. I want to thank Tony Allen Dr. Vita Pickrum LaShawne Pryor, Ed.D and Patrice Gilliam-Johnson for the invite, warm welcome back and confidence.

“Often I am asked what has led to the success I have had at such a very young age and most often than not I tell them is because of my experience at Delaware State University. It was because I was able to fail, underachieve, and then succeed at Delaware State that I am who I am today. It was because the professors here cared for me and helped me realize who I was inside when I did not know myself and cultivated that. It was my support group and friends on campus who allowed me to be me without judgement. Teammates who would not play loud music in our suite and room mates who would leave the room or prevented people from disturbing my routine of studying because they knew how important this was.

If I had a dream for you all as you begin this year and your journey here at DSU it would be for you the class of 2028 to be allergic to negativity and authentically you. To be a class of the greatest expectations that are met by a perfect union between experience and determination standing firm on the acres of green pastures that start with the mustard seeds of excellence. It would be that you realize that together we achieve. Apart from that we selfishly proceed. Because soon and very soon each of you will walk across the graduation stage and hear Well Done thy good and faithful student. by @zike259

Wow just wow‼️ What a humbling honor it was to receive the phone call that I was one of the 2025 @himssglobal Changemakers of the year awardees 🥇. This extremely prestigious honor is not a reflection of me alone but the teams behind the success of each initiative, solution, and/or idea that make them successful. Vision is only the start followed by execution then my favorite PDSA cycle.

Technology is a tool by which great outcomes are imagined by #innovation and alignment to the core objectives and relatable use cases. I am SO proud to be at @dvch_inc and apart of our state and national work we do to deliver the best quality primary care to those that need it the most. @nachc Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers

To me leadership isn’t defined by how many stages you are on, but yet what you have done when no one is around to prepare you for when the light shines on you.

This week we held our National Association of Community Health Centers annual conference where thousands of healthcare leaders, board members, and vendors gather to celebrate, learn, and strategize on better ways to support the record breaking over 52 million patients served this year‼️

Also introduced was the “Triple Double” concept which #PrimaryCareTripleDouble: doubling investment in primary care, doubling its reach beginning with Community Health Centers, and doubling the next generation of the primary care workforce. taken in Las Vegas, Nevada by @zike259

I will forever be steadfast in saying that the foundation for a lot of the reasons why I am the way I am is because of the foundation that @delstateuniv provided. More specifically the Delaware State University College of Business @dsu_cob prepared me not just in the theories but the realities of the business world that I still use to this day. Shouting happy 16th bday to my baby Madison‼️I don’t know if I am supposed to be this happy/upset all at the same time. I hope she gets EVERYTHING in life she wants and she knows Daddy is right there by her side EVERY step of the way 🙌🏾🤞🏾💪🏾.

Looking back at photos and videos we are so proud of her focus on her craft in track n field. I am in awe of the years of dedication and how she has stuck with it to reach the level she is at now which is ELITE🥇 by @zike259
