As a band we have decided to not take part in the musical war machine that Spotify has so egotistically declared. This means all of our music from now and forever will NOT be available on Spotify. Confused? Here’s why!
.
Spotify’s CEO, Daniel Ek, has personally invested BILLIONS into military Al companies like Helsing.
In July 2025, Spotify partnered with
Israeli firm Riverside, a company staffed by ex-IDF, military, and intelligence personnel. This deepens Spotify’s ties to industries linked with occupation
and surveillance. This means every listen and every premium subscriptions helps sustain these structures.
.
We refuse to contribute even a fraction of a cent to destructive AI weapons of war! You can still catch us on Apple Music, BandCamp, YouTube and with physical media. Anywhere under the sun that is not the Zionist Spotify! We understand that this is the smallest drop in the bucket in the grand scheme. However, even if it means we stop one person from using Spotify, then it’ll be worth it. Be that person. We encourage our artists friends to follow suit. This is maybe the most authentic Zilla track in the history of Zilla. Almost every band practice we’ve had will start with a jam that sometimes turns into a typical song, but most of the time just gets lost forever. Recording and including one of those songs that’s mostly just a jam seemed like something we had to do for this release, to capture the spontaneity of playing live music together. No click no backing tracks just bouncing off one another. Yesterday, we blew it. Tomorrow might be too late. You have to start a band today. -Eric on the closing track of ‘Garden of Eden’

The present is here to stay
Say goodbye to yesterday
Tomorrow is on its way
This’ll make it all better

‘Degrassi’

There’s no way to dive into this one lightly. So here is your trigger warning.
This year on Valentine’s Day I lost my cousin Hope to suicide.

I view Degrassi into two different parts. The first half is my initial struggle to accept her loss and the darkness that ensued. This is the biggest loss I’ve ever experienced and grief absolutely destroyed me for awhile. I still have rough days, thinking about her. But each day is a little better than the last.

The second half is the beginning of acceptance. It really sucks so hard but in the long run, you as an individual HAVE to move on. Life continues without that person. The second half is a celebration. My tribute to her in the best way that I know how.

Why name it Degrassi? Well instrumentally we’ve had this one for awhile. Sam always joked that it sounded like something that would play during a dramatic episode of Degrassi. The easier answer is that the name just ended up sticking. However, I think I found my own way to make it make sense. Life can be extremely dark and bleak at times. At the end of the day you just gotta find a way to keep your sense of humor and a positive attitude.

Check in on your loved ones any chance you get. Hope, this one is for you. -Tanner on Degrassi

‘Dime’ is political. Openly and unapologetically political. In the past I always kind of restrained myself from writing this bluntly about politics. Mainly because I’m a white male who’s had it pretty alright. So who am I to talk about how bad things are? It’s more beneficial in the long run for me to just be an ally and listen, learn and adapt. However, as time has gone on, as we passively watch our country decline into fascism at an alarming rate. It eventually just boiled out of me. So I hope you enjoy yet another white man political rant.

I am not patriotic in the slightest. We colonize, we’re tear apart our planet for profit, we fund genocides, we start wars over oil and stocks just to make the 1% even richer. We live in the richest country in all of human history, yet a large percentage of our population struggle to have basic necessities such as clean water and housing.

Voting locally is cool and all. Definitely do that. Local action is where we start. Pay attention to your local representatives and politicians. Hold them accountable for every word. However, I don’t believe voting alone will rid our world of evil. Fascism will not go quietly. It never has. Educate yourselves, question everything, build communities, look out for each-other, take action. Deny, defend, depose and Free Palestine.

Killing’s fine, for a dime. - Tanner on Dime

Bullets is about the violent polarization that has taken hold of our country. Americans have began refer to their neighbors as “the enemy within.” We see growing violence directed at politicians, executives, and media personalities. We see the government using deadly force against its own people. We attempt to make sense of the headlines within the context of our own information bubbles and become more entrenched in our own beliefs and convictions. We all like to think that we would be willing to die to defend what we think is right. Some consider themselves willing to kill. Both are scary thoughts. - Tobias on his lyrical and lead vocal debut on Bullets

A lot of this record is about life and death. With the song ‘Garden of Eden’ in particular, I saw my Garden, the birthplace of my struggles, as 2016. I had been a true adult for a year, was cold sweating at the thought of turning 20, and saw that, for better or for worse, I was becoming the person I might always be. There’s immense beauty in youthful optimism. There’s also an ugliness that roots itself and fights letting go. It’s been ten years and I’m about to be 30. I’m cold sweating all over again. Am I still the selfish man that I was? Am I there for my loved ones? Am I someone that can be relied upon? Can I change? My spirit leads me to believe so. I put my hope there.

- Sam on the title track ‘Garden of Eden’

The full EP, Garden of Eden, drops Friday, July 17th.
