Apparently, the internet has decided we’re going back to the 80s. Cute! I’ve been taking the scenic route there for years. Through music that made me want to dance before I knew what choreography was. Through sequins, big silhouettes, unapologetic glamour and clothes that actually had a point of view.
Through old films, old conversations, old-school charm and the slightly ridiculous joy of dressing up just because I can. And now AI has decided to give us the 80s in one click. Meanwhile, some of us are quite happy doing it the old-fashioned way. Living it. I love that nostalgia is having a moment, but what fascinates me more is why we’re reaching backwards. Maybe because the past wasn’t perfect. It was just wonderfully human. How? You had to discover music, you had to have conversations, you had to find your style and you had to experience culture instead of asking an algorithm to manufacture the aesthetic for you. Perhaps, that’s why, every time I step onto a stage, I still want the real thing.
A live room, a real audience and a voice that isn’t generated, a joke that wasn’t prompted or even a moment that cannot be recreated because it happened only once. So yes, give me the Jawani Jaaneman energy. Give me the sequins and the drama and the music that makes an entire room move. BUT don’t give me an artificial version of living. Some things are better experienced than generated. No?!

And if that makes me old school?! Well, the algorithm seems to be catching up.

The loudest sound at a listing ceremony isn’t the bell. It’s years of conviction finally finding an audience. Every time I host one, I’m reminded that milestones are always public but the becoming is always private. Here’s to the founders who kept building before the applause, the teams who believed before the valuation, and the families who invested long before the market did. The bell only announces what persistence has known all along.
📍Another front-row seat to ambition.

On the #techhrin stage, I had the privilege of sharing a frame with @ranveer.brar and @pushkarbidwai , CEO of @peoplematters , as Ranveer unpacked something far more complex than a recipe: the recipe for leading with legacy. Somewhere between food, failure, reinvention and karma, I found myself thinking about how similar leadership is to cooking. You inherit ingredients. You inherit a kitchen. You inherit a recipe that worked for the person before you.
And then, at some point, you have to decide: Do I follow the recipe… or do I create my own? Ranveer spoke about reinvention; about not becoming so loyal to what made you successful that you become incapable of changing.
About learning through failure. About failing faster. About understanding that failure isn’t always an interruption to the journey. Then came karma. Do the work. Do it well. Don’t become obsessed with controlling the outcome. That one stayed with me. Because in an industry built around applause, I’ve slowly learnt that the applause cannot be the reason you do the work.
The room will change. The audience will change. The algorithm will change. The definition of success will change.
Your craft has to remain. Maybe that’s what legacy really is. Not leaving behind a formula for the next generation to copy. But leaving them enough courage to write a better one. Because legacy isn’t the recipe you inherit. It’s what you do with it.

Some words don’t exist in the dictionary. They exist in the life I’ve quietly built. Like imaginuationship. The relationship between imagination and reality. The invisible bridge between who I am today and who I refused to stop becoming. I think about that every time someone says,”You’re lucky.” Luck didn’t teach me to speak. Curiosity did. Luck doesn’t build a career in rooms I’d only ever seen in magazines. Imagination did. Before every event, there is a version of the evening that exists only in my head. I rehearse conversations that haven’t happened yet. I imagine the energy in the room. I picture the audience smiling before they’ve even walked in. Most people dismiss imagination as fantasy.
I’ve found it’s one of the most practical business tools I’ve ever owned. Joan Didion wrote: “I’m not telling you to make the world better. I’m asking you to live in it.” That line stays with me. Because somewhere along the way, many of us stopped living and started enduring our reality. What if the point is never to wait? What if the point is to participate? To notice beautiful hotels without needing to stay in them. To admire great design without feeling inadequate.
To celebrate someone else’s success without shrinking your own. To order the coffee slowly. To iron the shirt properly. To write the presentation with unreasonable care, even if nobody notices. The quality of our lives is rarely decided by the milestones. It’s decided by the standard we bring to ordinary Tuesdays. That’s what taking pride in living really means. I work and move in an industry and a world where everyone is busy collecting achievements. I’ve found myself busy trying to collect ways of seeing the world. I’ve realised the second collection lasts much longer. Perhaps that’s adulthood. Not having all the answers. But developing an imaginuationship with life; where reality no longer competes with your imagination. It quietly begins to catch up to it.And when it finally does, I’ll try not to rush to the next destination.
