Another find we made in the White River badlands of the US: a Three Toed Horse jaw. Back in the Oligocene period (around 30 million years ago) horses didn’t have 1 toe with 1 hoofbone like nowadays, they had three toes and three hoofbones per leg.

Came back from a trip to the US. Did some fossil hunting in the Oligocene White River Group. Here’s an oreodont lower jaw of which the back of the jaw was shattered already, but the front was still in good shape. Decided to keep the shattered part in matrix and prep the better part of the jaw out.

Nice fossil horse tooth I found on the beach recently.
Unlike most horse teeth I’ve found here this tooth has some nice blue colors in it and not the usual brown colors.

Nice little pyrite ammonite found on the French Opal Coast. This one comes straight out of the Albian clay - about 110 million years old.

Rare carnivore tooth - Cave Hyena!
A few weeks ago I found this well preserved cave hyena premolar on the beach. Cave hyena finds are pretty rare over here, so I’m happy that I was able to add this to the collection!

Last week I was lucky enough to find this flint tool made by Neanderthals approximately 50.000 years ago. It classifies as a “double scraper”. It has 2 scraping edges which they used for cleaning animal hides, wood working, butchering etc.

Incredible to be able to be the first person to touch a piece with so much history for the first time in thousands of years! I found this piece on a beach in The Netherlands.

Beautiful wooly rhino tooth I found some time ago on the beach here in The Netherlands🦏. Saw some roots sticking out and luckily the rest of the tooth was there as well. It has some really nice colors that I haven’t seen often from this location. The tooth comes from the lower jaw and is from the last ice age, approximately 40.000 years old.

Yesterday during an evening walk on the beach in the Netherlands I found this beautiful Great White Shark tooth. It’s been a while since I found one, so it was a nice surprise to see this one laying in a shellbed!

Went for a hunt on the beach in Belgium last weekend. Not a usual hunting ground for me, but did manage to find this really nice cusped Isurus oxyrinchus (shortfin makoshark) tooth! by @zmfossils

One of the rarest shark teeth I’ve ever found - Alopias grandis (giant tresher shark).

2 weeks ago I found this beautiful little cusped posterior tooth. First time finding this species and directly a rare position too! Look at that wicked curve on it!

1,5 weeks ago I found this beautiful little Otodus angustidens shark tooth. 🦈 this is from the ancestor of the Megalodon.

Different hunting grounds than usual, Oligocene of South Carolina (+- 30 million years old).
