As #JolinaMagdangal’s popularity grew in the ‘90s, the demand for the look she had created took on a life of its own. Her playful mix of butterfly clips, colorful beaded chokers, quirky hairstyles, and unabashedly feminine silhouettes quickly reproduced in Divisoria stalls, neighborhood tiangges, and school corridors across the country.

For Jolina, however, the impulse was never to set trends. Dressing up was simply an instinctive form of self-expression: “Mas colorful, mas gusto ko… ’yun ’yung happiness ko, ’yun ’yung therapy ko,” she explains.

In this #PreviewOriginal production, we revisit how the OG kikay and Filipino pop culture icon reclaimed girlhood and encouraged an entire generation to dress with joy, unapologetically.

Since 2015, I’ve been itching to hop on board with the Karpos/Wanderland Creative team. You’ll always find me right up front by the barricade, eagerly waiting for my favorite artists to hit the stage. Sneaking in my camera has become a little ritual since anything bigger than 35-50mm isn’t allowed.

But guess what? Fast forward to this year, and I’m now part of this insanely awesome crew of music and art enthusiasts who share my passion! I’m talking about being right there in the mix, meeting artists up close and snapping shots backstage and on stage.

And would you believe it? I even got to collaborate with @josemiguelsings , one of the performers on the big Wanderland stage! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be the one creating visuals for the main stage.

Big shoutout to all the amazing folks who believed in me and gave me this opportunity! The hustle never stops, but man, it’s all worth it when you’re living the dream. by @zneps
