Happy first birthday Bear Trooper, This time a year ago we started on the hardest journey me and your mother have ever faced. You were given inconceivable odds, but you beat them, every day seemed harder than the next, yet you showed no fear. Your mother never left your side proving that a mother's love transcends all obstacles. You made your way out of that hospital and lived up to the name on your birth certificate. You are a sweet, loving , handsome boy who loves anything that your parents do. We are so proud of you. I have never been much into gambling but I will always bet the farm on you. After 155 days at mass general Bear is now home with us where he is meant to be. There were so many long days and longer nights wondering if we would ever get days like this. You may never remember but your mom never skipped a day by your side all that time, and willed your success into existence. Doctors told us all the hard facts and your possible delays and hurdles you might face in life, but i don't see it that way. You have learned lessons most adults including myself will never learn, you now know how fast life can change, and sometimes life gives you one option. You now know how unfair life can seem but complaining about it will get you nowhere. You have also learned one of life's greatest pleasures, doing what others said you couldn't do. You have done all this before you have turned 1 year old, in my mind you are far ahead. I hope everyday is better than the next, and wherever life takes you it's filled with joy and wonder. I will be there every step of the way cheering you on and telling the select few people that doubted your success, I fucking told you so. Now go live ,Bear Trooper by @znormandin

Bear is finally home after 155 days at Mass General. We are so lucky to live near the best doctors in the world, and forever grateful for the unbelievable nurses who cared for us, loved Bear like their own, and got us through the hardest days.

The day that Bear was born Zach said this to me- tough times don’t last but tough people do.

This was a difficult season of our life but our miracle boy is finally on the seacoast where he belongs. The best days are ahead of us! taken in Rye, New Hampshire by @znormandin

To my son, to my hero, you came into our lives 3 days ago at 23 weeks. You have already proven your strength 10 fold. You have already beaten the odds set for you. You have already changed me and your mothers life, making us parents and protecters of you. You have already won over the hearts of all the nurses providing you care. You have already made me a better person. In 3 days you have moved mountains and shattered expectations. You were born on a cold New England night at Mass General prepped for battle. And to my amazing wife I am in complete awe of your strength and resilience. I will ask all to pray for our son, Bear Trooper Normandin. One day in the future over a beer we can talk about the place that saved both our lives, but until then son live, live everyday as if someone tried to take it from you. Love- your dad by @znormandin

Very excited and honored to introduce the @heartbreak.run internationalist kit. I started training for Boston at the lowest point of my life, it took a lot to just get the motivation to go outside and run. The champain is called raise to the moment, my moment was cancer and the metal struggles it amplified. I am stoked to share a little bit about my life, snowboarding, and my marathon run.
