EL ANATSUI | MIVEVI

A sculptural language built from the fragments of everyday life.
In MivEvi, El Anatsui presents monumental, textile-like compositions assembled from thousands of discarded metal bottle caps. Individually cut, folded, flattened, and connected with copper wire, these small elements form intricate surfaces that shimmer with changing light. Conceived to be viewed from both sides, the works reveal contrasting metallic tones and exposed structures, emphasizing their capacity to shift in form and appearance with each installation.
Rather than remaining fixed, the sculptures exist as evolving arrangements, shaped by material, gravity, and the spaces they inhabit.

JANAINA TSCHÄPE | PIRUETAS DE OLHOS ABERTOS

Painting as an act of movement and instinct.
Janaina Tschäpe’s large-scale compositions unfold through sweeping gestures, overlapping lines, and fluid layers of color. Combining oil, oil stick, watercolor, and pastel, her paintings balance spontaneous brushwork with the deliberate resistance of drawing. Created between New York and Bocaina, Brazil, these works capture a sense of continuous movement, where forms emerge, dissolve, and shift across the surface.

TANIA XIMENA | APUNTES PARA EL DIARIO DE UN TEMPLO; GRAMÁTICA DEL CLIMA (HELADA, AIRÓN, LLUVIA Y TORMENTA)

A landscape shaped by weather, movement, and transformation.
In Apuntes para el diario de un templo; gramática del clima (helada, airón, lluvia y tormenta), Tania Ximena brings together sweeping forms and layered fields of color that evoke shifting atmospheric forces. The composition moves through states of turbulence and calm, turning the landscape into a space of continuous change.
Presented within Desde el umbral, the work enters into the exhibition’s broader reflection on the relationship between nature and the human, approaching the natural world as something with agency, presence, and its own forms of existence.

LARRY MADRIGAL | NEEDS AND WANTS

An intimate scene shaped by closeness, vulnerability, and quiet observation.
In Needs and Wants, Larry Madrigal depicts two figures resting within a softly painted interior, surrounded by folds of white bedding and subdued domestic details. Loose brushwork and warm, muted tones give the scene a sense of immediacy, while the composition suggests a private moment of tenderness and introspection.
Presented in Secret Skins, the work reflects the exhibition’s focus on intimacy, interior states, and the quieter psychological dimensions of the body.

PARK SEO-BO | ECRITURE

Repetition becomes a way of seeing, thinking, and being.
In his Ecriture series, Park Seo-Bo developed a disciplined practice built through repeated gestures, allowing time, material, and process to become central to the work. Rather than treating painting primarily as representation, he approached it as a process of self-cultivation and emptying.
Influenced by Taoist and Buddhist philosophy, Park used repetition as a meditative act, turning the making of each work into an exercise in concentration, restraint, and transformation.

PABLO PICASSO & CARL NESJÄR | BUST OF SYLVETTE

A portrait transformed into monumental sculpture.
In Bust of Sylvette, Picasso’s image of Sylvette David is translated into a large-scale outdoor work executed with Carl Nesjär. Bold linear contours define the figure across the surface, preserving the immediacy of drawing while giving it the physical presence of concrete and stone.
The work reflects Picasso’s sustained interest in Sylvette’s distinctive profile and high ponytail, which appeared repeatedly in his portraits of her during the 1950s.

SEBASTIAN BRAJKOVIC | HELIX CHAIR

A familiar form transformed through movement and distortion.
In Helix Chair, Sebastian Brajkovic reworks the language of traditional seating through elongated, curved forms that seem to twist across the structure. The composition creates a strong sense of movement while retaining the proportions and details of classical furniture.
The work moves between functional design and sculpture, turning the chair into a dynamic object defined by tension, balance, and form.

FRANCIS BACON | SEATED FIGURE

Two figures occupy a space shaped by distortion, enclosure, and psychological tension.
In Seated Figure, Francis Bacon places a figure wearing cricket pads beneath an umbrella within a circular enclosure, while the profile of George Dyer appears below. Curved lines, geometric planes, and intense fields of color divide the composition, creating a sense of separation and instability.
The painting brings together recurring elements of Bacon’s visual language — the distorted body, enclosed space, and fragmented portraiture — in a composition that remains deliberately enigmatic.

PEDRO REYES | TLALI

A monumental form rooted in stone, history, and transformation.
In Tlali, Pedro Reyes draws from the monumental scale and visual language of ancient Olmec sculpture while reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens. Carved from volcanic stone sourced from a quarry on the slopes of Popocatépetl in central Mexico, the work combines human and zoomorphic features within a fragmented head.
The sculpture brings ancient visual traditions into dialogue with the present, reflecting how historical forms can continue to shift in meaning across time and place.
