Venise Biennale 2022: Climax of the mighty journey in the #SwissPavillion today with “The Concert” by @latifa.echa

The crazy thing is, my camera came to life in my hands here. The way the light fleeted in, the way the humans waltzed past, I had never seen anything like that before. And if I looked back, I wasn’t so much as taking photos but simply listening to what it wanted me to see, what it wanted me to feel. Sometimes, all you have to is just let the magic take over.

My sincerest humble appreciation to everyone in the team big and small, every single human who made this experience possible. The organisations and associations that make these things possible are usually so huge the single human effort tends to get lost inside, but really, I feel you. I felt all of you.

Thank you for enabling this girl onto a pilgrimage of dreams. 💫

12.08.2026 - when everyone aligned 🤭✨🥲

the solar glasses were totally out of stock, but I knew if we made the effort and just showed up, magic would happen anyways — and met the sweetest strangest who lent us their glasses at different moments, and peaked with the most gracious girl who gifted us her glasses in the end 💆🏼‍♀️😭🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

lastly, look at the first image again, and see the incredible lines of the light — they are the light filtering through the trees but in the crescent shape of the eclipse *internal screams* 🥹🥹🥹🥹

〈結界—灶跤（Tsàu-Kha）〉以臺灣傳統廚房為起點，探討女性在日常空間中的自主性與矛盾處境。 廚房看似是女性可掌控的領域，實則多為服務他人而存在，映射出隱性的空間權力結構。 作品借用東亞民間信仰中的灶神故事，將傳統男性神祇重新詮釋為女性角色，象徵母親在家庭中既守護又監控的雙重身份，呈現母女關係中深愛與束縛交織的複雜情感。 透過灶跤這一傳統空間，連結觀眾的情感與文化經驗，從熟悉的場域中發現新的視角，帶來對家庭與自我的重新省思。 

Boundaries: Tsàu-Kha takes the traditional Taiwanese kitchen as its starting point to explore women’s autonomy and paradoxical circumstances within everyday spaces. The kitchen may appear to be a domain women can control, but it often exists primarily to serve others, which reflects a latent spatial power structure. Drawing on stories about the East Asian folk belief in the Kitchen God, the work reimagines the traditionally male deity as a female figure, symbolizing the mother’s dual identity as both guardian and overseer within the family, and portrays the complexly entwining deep affections and constraints in mother-daughter relationships. Through the traditional space of the ”tsàu-kha”(“kitchen” in Taiwanese), it connects audiences’ emotions and cultural experiences, uncovering new perspectives within this familiar space and prompting a re-examination of family and self.
