✨The Ensemble Theatre’s 49th Anniversary Gala: Legacy in Bloom – Rooted in Our Past, Cultivating Our Future 🌸

Co-chairing this unforgettable evening alongside the incredible Teal Holden, and with the flawless planning of Houston’s finest, Alexia McWhinney, has been an honor and a dream come true.

When I said yes to this role last year, I couldn’t have imagined we’d be entering a time when the arts—and especially Black stories—would face renewed erasure and attack.

But that’s the power of theatre: it preserves, it teaches, and it brings us together. That is the legacy of The Ensemble Theatre. And that’s why I was so proud to lead this effort now, when it’s more needed than ever.

To our corporate sponsors, individual donors, and everyone who showed up to support: thank you for standing with us and helping keep George Hawkins’ vision alive.

Deep gratitude to the incredible Ensemble team, Managing Director Donald Mason, Artistic Director Eileen Morris, and our gracious honorary co-chairs Morgan & Chris Hollins.

Let’s continue to uplift this essential institution, the Ensemble Theatre. Our stories matter. 🖤🎭

Decided to go as an Italian heiress for Halloween. No plans to break character.

And of course the dress is black-owned: @andreaiyamah

Pro tip: Don’t shop for the occasion. Shop for the fashion. The occasion will come.

Case in point: this Zimmermann Rebellion dress straight from the Twisted Romance runway collection. A statement piece that needed no particular invitation, just the right moment.

And what better moment than wandering the centuries-old streets of Venice, where history, art, architecture, and fashion effortlessly coexist?

Some pieces are simply too beautiful to wait for an occasion. Sometimes, the occasion is wherever you decide to wear them.

Congress is in recess (which simply means they’re not in DC voting) but the work goes on. This is by far the busiest midterm recess I’ve ever had, but the work has to get done! #governmentaffairs #womeninpolitics #womeninsuits #corporatebaddie #lawyersofig

One year later, and this night still holds such a special place in my heart. 🌸

Legacy in Bloom was more than a gala—it was a celebration of the stories, artistry, and community that make Ensemble Theatre so extraordinary. And for me personally, it marked a first I’ll never forget: my very first time chairing an arts gala.

I had the privilege of chairing alongside the incredible Teal Holden, with our amazing planner Alexia helping us bring every detail, every idea, and every bit of the vision to life.

There’s something beautiful about looking back a year later and realizing just how much a moment meant while you were living it. The planning, the anticipation, the people who showed up, the love in the room—and seeing Legacy in Bloom actually bloom before our eyes.

I may be a year late posting the recap, but some memories deserve to be revisited.

Forever grateful for this night, this team, and the legacy we celebrated together.

One year later… Legacy in Bloom.
