Besuch bei Zoë Leticia Thomas (*2000 in Bonn) in ihrem Atelier im Atelierhaus des Bonner Kunstvereins. Zoë studierte Bildende Kunst bei Prof. Michael Reisch an der Alanus Hochschule in Alfter, wo sie 2024 abschloss.
Sie arbeitet medienübergreifend. Ihre Praxis umfasst Malerei, Skulptur, Video / Animation und Sound. Im Zentrum ihrer Arbeit stehen gesellschaftlich hochaktuelle Fragestellungen wie Körperbild und Selbstinszenierung, Psychische Gesundheit und Digitale Identität.
Zoës Arbeiten waren zuletzt zu sehen in der Gruppenausstellung „Sync“ der Künstler:innen des Bonner Atelierhauses in Brüssel (Galerie Martin Kudlek) und in der Ausstellung „No Sorrows, Just Meow-Meows“ gemeinsam mit Rebekka Benzenberg und Sevina Tzanou in Köln (Galerie Martinetz).

Installation view from our recent group show “No Sorrows, Just Meow - Meows” at @petramartinetz

Thomas examines digital self-presentation as an ambivalent process: between control and loss of control, between intimacy and alienation. Her paintings juxtapose this digital dissolution of the body with a physical one. Distorted, blurred, barely discernible bodily forms reveal the disappearance of the self in the tension between inner experience and outer image.
Whether Al-generated videos or analogue painting: in both media, @zoeeleticia deals with identity - fragmented, fleeting, yet deeply human. Her works reveal how digital technologies imitate body images while simultaneously shifting our perception of reality and self-perception.

Celebrate the closing of the exhibition with drinks and good company.

Sync unfolds through moments of convergence and divergence. The works reflect on how meaning arises through relationships—between language and experience, structure and intuition, presence and absence. Synchronisation is understood not as a static state, but as an ongoing process of negotiation and transformation.

The exhibition is open to the public, and everyone is welcome.

What does it mean to live in a world where visibility and productivity are the markers of worth? What effect do capitalist performance standards have on mental health? And how might art deal with this when both the artist’s persona and her motifs appear so heavily laden with art-historical significance that every image must be the expression of a position?
