My works hanging in the window at Ruby Cruel ?! 🇬🇾🌀🇬🇾

So so grateful to be a part of this beautiful inaugural Open Cruel. I’ve followed Ruby Cruel for ages and have been constantly inspired by the artists and the vision of the gallery. As an artist working within the Caribbean diaspora it means so much to me to show in this space.

Thank you so much to the lovely Blue and the selectors Daniella Rose King and Jessica Taylor for the opportunity and thank you also to Merlin the dog for your install help 🐶 taken in Ruby Cruel by @zoewilkinson_art

Last month our team made the trip up to Misterton to visit Zoë Wilkinson during her Artiq residency at @thepumphouseartstudio 🧱

Throughout the day, we explored Zoë’s favourite spaces in the surrounding landscape and spoke about how her time in Nottinghamshire had opened up new ways of thinking about her mixed heritage. From walking 23 miles along the River Trent with her father, to working instinctively with charcoal and photography, her time at the Pump House became a living dialogue between place, history, and world-building.

Thank you to Zoë for sharing part of the experience with us. We’ll be sharing our full interview with @zoewilkinson_art in our online journal soon, talking more about her approach to materiality, storytelling, and the evolving relationship between her writing and visual practice. Keep your eyes peeled! by @zoewilkinson_art

We are proud and super excited for Zoë Wilkinson (British, b. 1999) who has been featured as "One of the Five Artists Defining the Market" by the international contemporary art platform Mutual Art.

"Emerging from London art academies, Zoë Wilkinson represents the new wave of figurative painters and is represented by RIANA RAOUNA Gallery. She explores psychological interiors, vulnerability, and human intimacy through subtle color palettes and fluid brushwork that reflect a mature understanding of classical figurative heritage recontextualized for modern audiences. Her early primary availability, highlighted by active works like A Breath Held, offers strategic positioning for emerging collectors tracking figurative painting trends." (extract from related Mutual Art article)

Many congrats Zoë!! We are looking forward to seeing more of your work 👏👏👏
