Me and @smiler1791 had a blast playing for 4 hours at To The Moon last night - we covered a large amount of musical ground for @_pulsewave_bristol x @zoitrax

ambient
house
jazz funk
dub
bleep’n’bass
Detroit techno
Acid
Wonky stuff (that was me!)

Tunes from @dancurtinx and @jordanczamanski and loads of others

I noticed that when I play my own tracks in a DJ set they go down really well! What’s going on there? Maybe it’s because of the connection between me and the track… I doubt anyone else would get that reaction with that exact track at that exact moment… any thoughts?

WONKS :: Shadow Tactics EP (Zoitrax)
https://igloomag.com/reviews/wonks-shadow-tactics-zoitrax
#igloomag #reviews

"Shadow Tactics maintains a focus on structure and texture—beats splinter, surfaces scrape, and each element is placed with intent. It’s a concise study in mechanical detail and broken rhythm, placing WONKS in conversation with artists like Richard Devine, Funckarma, Hecq, and Funkstörung." ~ @pietrobot by @zoitrax

Dustywork - Black Shapes

“Uncompromising IDM, raw and pure. This EP is beautifully crafted, showing a real deep-dive into unique sonic textures. The progression is surgical, balancing rarefied and more laid-back moments with total coherence. Telekom is the standout for me. Top notch work”

BRISTOL, United Kingdom, Saturday, 14 March 2026 - Following the success of his first EP with Zoitrax, Scratch Robotics, WONKS returns with the second instalment, an EP titled Shadow Tactics. Shadow Tactics features five tracks and is available on Bandcamp starting on 27 March 2026.

Shadow Tactics carries the same thematic thread as its predecessor, Scratch Robotics. The EP opens with
“ReCreation” setting a calm rhythmical base that eases the listener into WONKS’ musical landscape.
“Telekom”
and “Rogue” follow as smooth transitions with subtle shifts in texture and tempo.

“Volts” then lifts the ambiance
with sharper beats, before the EP closes with “Itopian”

WONKS and ZOiD curated Shadow Tactics over several months, collaborating closely on the listening and
selection process. Having worked together on WONKS’ first EP, the process was seamless. They first selected a
shortlist of five tracks, WONKS then mixed them, occasionally swapping out a track for a fresh one when he felt the new one fit better with the rest.

The EP has already received early praise from An Taobh Tuathail, one of Ireland’s leading alternative radio shows, describing it as an EP that “puts a stutter in your step.

Elena Colombi of NTS radio has also shown her support, while RS Tangent of Bristol-based electronic duo Giant Swan gave the release a shout out, noting that it deserves a five-star rating. Annie Hall added that it is “a fantastic EP” and one of the best she has listened to recently.
