So many of you asked me the same question after seeing our photos…

“Where were the kids while you were having this photoshoot?” 😄

Well… they were right there with us.

And of course, at some point they decided to join in too .

What started as a photoshoot just for the two of us naturally turned into a little family moment as well.

And I think that makes these photos even more special.

I think artists are rebellious by nature. We don’t like being told how to live, what to think or who we should be.

And I have always been a little rebellious myself.

I have never really felt the need to fit into anyone else’s expectations. I follow my curiosity, change my mind, try new things, travel, create and do whatever makes me feel alive.

I am a photographer, a yoga teacher, an artist, a traveller, a mother, a wife… but none of these things defines me completely. And I don’t think I need to be defined.

I love the freedom to be all of these things and so much more.

Swimming in the beautiful waters of Aruba, feeling the sun on my skin, the ocean around me and absolutely nowhere else I need to be… this is one of those moments when I feel pure happiness.

Not because everything in life is perfect, but because I am free to enjoy it, to feel it, to be completely myself.

I don’t believe we need to find ourselves. I think we need to give ourselves the freedom to explore everything we already are.

To create boldly, feel deeply, contradict ourselves, change direction and never stop being curious about life.

And perhaps that is what being an artist really means to me. Not just creating beautiful things, but having the courage to live your life as your own creation.

A little rebellious. A little unpredictable. Completely free. And very, very happy to be me.

A relaxed family session at the beautiful Martineau Gardens in Birmingham.

We walked through the gardens, let little Moa explore, and captured those natural moments between her, baby Finn, Anna and Alex. Nothing too posed, just connection, playfulness and the little details that make this season of family life so special.

There is something about black and white photography that I absolutely love.

I don’t know why, but somehow, without colour, I see things differently. The light, the shadows, the little details, the expressions… everything feels a little more intimate.

And I actually love looking at myself from the other side of the camera.

It’s interesting how we see ourselves in the mirror every day, but a photograph can show us something completely different. A little moment, an expression, a side of ourselves we don’t always notice.

Sometimes I look at my own portraits and think, is that really me?

Not because I don’t recognise myself, but because I see myself in a different way. And I love that feeling.

I think that’s one of the reasons I love portrait photography so much. It’s not just about capturing how someone looks. It’s about discovering something about yourself that you might never have noticed before.

And these black and white portraits, with the flowers, the light and the shadows, are some of my favourite photographs of myself.

Just me, enjoying the moment and seeing myself through my own lens.

This is me. Just enjoying a quiet moment, feeling grateful for the life I have and all the love that comes with it.

I remember my mum always telling me that the greatest happiness in her life was having me and my little sister. She said it so often that I think, somewhere deep inside, I carried those words with me.

I always dreamed of having two children of my own. And now I have my two boys.

It was a challenging journey to get here, and perhaps that’s why I appreciate all those little moments even more.

I love hugging them, kissing them, feeling their little arms around me. Even when they drive me absolutely crazy, five minutes later I just want to squeeze them again.

And whenever I go away, I miss them so much. Their little faces, their voices, their cuddles.

They bring so much love into my life and give me strength even on the days when things feel a little difficult.

I have so many things in life that make me happy, but being their mum is something I will always be grateful for.

And now I understand exactly what my mum meant all those years ago.

Recently I’ve been thinking how much of our life we spend doing things because we think we should.

Work. Plans. Responsibilities. Always something that needs to be done.

And I think I’m slowly learning to choose more of what I actually want.

I left a secure job and started photography. I teach yoga. I travel whenever I can. I take pictures and videos because I want to remember things. Sometimes I start something and realise it’s not for me anymore. And I’m getting much better at saying, okay, then I don’t need to do it.

I used to think everything needed to have a reason. To be useful. To lead somewhere.

Now I’m not so sure.

Maybe some things can just make you happy.

A trip. A photograph. Dancing with someone you love. Learning something new. Changing your mind. Doing something simply because you feel like it.

Life goes so quickly anyway.

Recently I just want to spend more of it doing things that make me feel alive.

Maybe photography is a little like that too.

We don’t find the perfect moment.
We choose to notice it.

To slow down, let go of everything else, and be fully present for what is already here.

And sometimes, that’s where the most beautiful photographs begin.
