Wednesday Sept. 16th A pleasure to be invited by @emileomar for the launch party of his amazing compilation “Déclic, Kaz A Zouk” at @foliabelleville ! Well deserved highlight of the seminal record label Déclic Communication (+ Blue Silver), a major player of the 80s/90s Afro-Caribbean scene in Paris (All the credits to its founder Eric Basset👏) Early party at 9pm! @tajan_secret @heavenly_sweetness @emileomar @high_tree__soundsystem Back to the golden nights of zouk clubs, where hip-hop, kompa, zouk and Caribbean grooves ruled the dance- floor. This selection documents a pivotal moment : a time when zouk was still not a fixed genre, but more a place, an atmosphere, somewhere people went to dance. It captures the spirit of an era: its creative effervescence, musical freedom, and the diversity of artists who shaped it. The very concept of “Kaz A Zouk” perfectly encapsulates this idea: a space where all styles could meet. Curated by Émile Omar, the driving force behind the Disques Debs and Radio Nova compilations — alongside Tropical Discoteq, Paris’s legendary tropical club night. taken in Paris, France by @zoukroulette

ZOUK ROULETTE SHOW #3 By @tajan_secret Archive on line ! This @nts_radio show focus exclusively on the musical production of two islands, Martinique and Guadeloupe, in the 80s and the 90s, it will - contrary to what the title might suggest - not only feature “Zouk” music but many of the derivative, subgenres, off-shoots and more ephemeral trends within this tim Digi-Zouk, Cosmic Créole, Zouk Love, Ragga-Zouk, R&B Créole… Far from an exhaustive overview of the infinite richness of this culture, Zouk Roulette aims only to present a very personal glimpse, a peripheral vision of an highly overshadowed part of musical history. Huge thanks @sarahmartinon for the wonderful artwork Recorded at @benzeneparis Additional production by @lionelboutang taken in Point a Pitre by @zoukroulette
