Ever wonder what freight dispatchers really make? 👀

Let’s break it down ⬇️

🚛 1 truck = $560/week | $2,240/month
🚛 2 trucks = $1,120/week | $4,480/month
🚛 3 trucks = $1,680/week | $6,720/month
🚛 4 trucks = $2,240/week | $8,960/month
🚛 5 trucks = $2,800/week | $11,200/month

And guess what? That’s from your phone or laptop. No CDL. No warehouse. Just strategy. 📲

This is why I tell yall to learn the MATH behind the business. 👀
If your dispatch fee is 10%, your revenue is tied to what your carrier grosses. That means learning how to find freight, understand lanes, negotiate rates and keep that truck moving matters.

Circa 2018… I had no idea how much my life was about to change. 🥹 I was working full-time as a CNA and part-time in food & beverage. I worked, paid bills, and did what I needed to do, but deep down I knew I wanted more freedom and flexibility…. But I didn’t have a degree.

Then freight dispatching entered the picture 🤏🏾💰

It started as a side hustle. I learned the business, kept going, and eventually that “lil side hustle” became my career.

Do I miss some of the people I worked with? Absolutely. 🥹❤️ But would I make the decision again?

EVERY👏SINGLE👏TIME👏

Sometimes the thing you start on the side becomes the very thing that changes your life. And to my old work bestie pictured with me, girl, we really thought we were doing something back then. 😂🤞🏾❤️

When I first learned about freight dispatching, of course I wanted to know, “Okay, but can I actually make good money doing this?” 😂

What I eventually learned was that the better question is, “Can I become good enough at this skill that carriers will pay me AND continue working with me?”

Because getting one carrier is one thing. Keeping that carrier loaded, communicating, negotiating good rates and proving your value week after week is where the business is built.

There’s money in freight dispatching, but there’s work behind it too. Learn the skill first. The income isn’t guaranteed, and it depends on your clients, fees, market and performance. 🚛

One reason entrepreneurship appealed to me was having more control over my time. Freight dispatching gave me a skill to provide to trucking companies.

Now, being your own boss does NOT mean you don’t work. Baby, sometimes the boss is the hardest-working employee. 😂 But you’re building something of your own.

Nobody told me THIS when I first started freight dispatching.

I thought learning the load board was the main thing. Theeeeeen I realized I also needed systems, numbers and, most importantly, CARRIERS.

The load board is a tool. Learning how to operate the actual business is the skill.

Save this because your future dispatch business will thank you. 🚛💻
