Captures from Ireland and Scotland. My heart and spirit are completely enlivened. I offer thanks to all forces in my life, both hidden and seen, that have brought me to this very moment.

This year has been incredibly dense for me and I know for many of you too. I found myself often in a place where I felt dulled and frozen in a somber mist that would not seem to lift.

To land here during the autumnal equinox, the dawning of my favorite season, is like a healing salve on all of my wounds.

Thank you all for being here. This growing community is precious to me.

Keep going. Keep rising. Especially in your broken heartedness. Your density and your grief. Trust that every experience you’ve endured and are enduring are carving you into the most honest, whole expression of who you came here to be.

Returning from Scotland and Ireland in awe of this miraculous life.

Learning from exquisite teachers in Inverness to further my studies on the harp, praying beside holy wells and rivers and exploring sacred sites, befriending new kindred souls, meeting new parts of myself, enjoying many a vegetable soup with gluten-free toast… these are just some captures of my journey.

Thank you God. Thank you to all of my closest ones for your love and support. I am strengthened and made more by your presence.

Blessed autumn, may the start of this new season bring goodness and bounty alike.

As a student of music, love and all things poetry really, I am tirelessly seeking experiences in which I am provoked, enlivened and grown.

These are some moments from my recent travels abroad, most notably Scotland, Ireland, and Iceland.

If your heart is aching, let it.
If your mind is weary, find the earth, rest and reset.
If you are questioning everything, slow down.
If you are uninspired, change your surroundings.
If you are in love, lean in.
If you are hungry for meaning, your hunger will be satisfied to no avail unless you go within.

And so we go within. We go deeper, and we let go, and we let go again, and we rebuild, even when it feels impossible, and we find our peace and our chaos, and we sing on amidst so much loss.

What a gift.

The sky is loud with fire again a thousand suns that never set and children learn too young the names of places they must soon forget

Streets bleed stories into stone and every breath feels thick with ash The world breaks open bone by bone and time neglects to mourn its past

We sing with sirens through the smoke through newsreels full of shattered light
our silence split by every stroke of man remaking wrong as right

And yet beneath this weary weight a softer strength begins to rise not forged in hate nor shaped by fate but something steadier, more wise

It grows where hands still reach to hold where kindness blooms in barren ground where mercy dares, though winds are cold to speak when no one makes a sound

Grace is not the easy path It is the harder road to tread
To love when all we see is wrath, to heal where hope itself has fled

Lest we not grow numb or blind though sorrow stains the morning air There’s still a light we each must find a flame we kindle, not despair

For in the heart where bombs can’t fall, where war has no command or claim, we guard the grace that saves us all and walk each day through smoke still flame

It was on this day that I awakened and thought, how is it that I have yet to learn ANY Lord of the Rings songs on the harp?

A crime! 😤

Thus, came this moment.

I learned this most fitting song to serenade the nature spirits, sitting beside a cottage in Ireland in the middle of nowhere that very much resembled the Shire.

It‘s been one week since Blood Moon found its way to your ears. The first few days after releasing it were difficult to get out of bed. Fascinating what happens to the mind and spirit when you let go and give something to God after tending to it for nearly a year.

Such waves of emotions, emptiness being one of the most prominent for me.

I’m humbled to explore these new layers of creating and sharing as a weaver of sound.

My heart capacity is stretched upon receiving your comments, messages and shares of how the song lands for you. Reposting a couple of the tags I received in this carousel. Thank you so much. Sosososo much.

An excerpt from one of my favorite songs by Wyndreth Berginsdottir, named Savage Daughter.

I sing the lines,

We are all brought forth out of darkness.
Into this world, through blood and through pain.
And deep in our bones, the old songs are waking.
So sing them with voices of thunder and rain.

I switched around the last lines by accident and it inspired a gentle roar in me hah 😂 I re-recorded it but this first go at it felt the most appropriate to share, as the spirit of the song is about liberation. It feels right to share this song with you right now, as it is of Viking origin, and I will be traveling in September to the Norse homelands of Iceland.

I have felt drawn to these regions of the world for quite some time now. I am very excited to experience the people, the culture, the land and of course the music!

Huriya حرية, it is freedom. One of my favorite words in my father’s tongue.

What is freedom?

In such times of detachment, war and separation, freedom to me looks like people holding onto love when everything is trying to tear them apart. It looks like revering our oneness and the tenderness of our unbreakable core human spirit.

Freedom to me is not passive. It asks something of us. It’s a responsibility we carry for one another.

If you are free, I am free. If you are not free, how can I be free? So we return here and we remember.

Thinking of all of my harp family at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival where I took this video one year ago down the street at a church. Reminiscing on the magic today and excited to return to these lands when the timing is right.

It takes undying tenacity, faith and endurance to walk this world in such a way that is “awake”.

Not numbing out.
Not avoiding.
Not escaping.
Not thwarting one’s truth.

No. Truly awake.

This is a different kind of relationship with life.

And in the moments where the noise and pain is unbearable, who can you turn to? What resources may support you?

Check in on your people. Especially the men in your life.

Moments from this weekend filled with friends, old and new, music and sweet silence.

The heart never ceases to amaze me… How it can hold tremendous grief and praise all at once.

For me, this year offers reoccurring themes of letting go and letting in. Feeling the ways in which my mind wants to make sense of it all, but then the heart chimes in and says surrender.

Love is love, and that is that.

Let it open you, let it grow you. It is you. Stay present. Meet and greet life in prayer and curiosity.

A last exciting note… is to share that as my favorite season is approaching 🍂, so is the birthing of a project that has been in the works this entire year, and that is my first song release called Blood Moon 🌕 This feels tender and terrifying to share with you, but as we did just pass through the lunar eclipse portal yesterday on the Blood Moon, it feels fitting to share. by @zunaira

Blood Moon releasing on November 21 started just like this. Strumming one string and the melody poured out.

I’ve always been a lover of simplicity, and that is the essence of this song.
