Was bedeutet »wohnen« und wie können oder sollten wir wohnen? In Essays, interaktiven Übungen und Gesprächen mit Architekt*innen, Designer*innen und Erzieher*innen versuchen die beiden Herausgeberinnen dieser Frage auf den Grund zu gehen.

Aufgeteilt in zwei Teile – Überlegungen und Übungen – lädt dieses schön gestaltete Buch dazu ein, die oben gestellten Fragen selbst zu hinterfragen und eventuell zu beantworten.

Extremely happy to share that our new research and publication project “I Had Been There Twice: Nostalgia, Re-nostalgia and Spatial Attunements” received a generous support from Creative Industries Fund NL (Design Scheme) 2026-2027!

I Had Been There Twice: nostalgia, re-nostalgia and spatial attunements is a research-based publication that investigates nostalgia as a spatial phenomenon – examining how spaces become emotionally charged, destabilized, or transformed during life transitions such as grief, parenting, aging and migration, and how these shifts reshape our capacity to inhabit or re-inhabit familiar environments. While nostalgia is often associated with sorrow and longing for what can no longer be inhabited, the project approaches it through a queer lens, understanding it as a generative condition that opens alternative ways of relating to space, identity, and belonging. Where architectural and interior design discourse has traditionally prioritized functionality, aesthetics, and normative assumptions about dwelling, this publication foregrounds the emotional and sensory registers through which space is actually experienced.
