This is a nicely saturated dark red example of what I believe to be Bulbophyllum scyphochilus. It may be B. holochilum but from what I can tell the distinguishing factor is the 3 lobed lip present in B. holochilum. One thing is for sure, it’s absolutely not B. geniculiferum, despite similar plants commonly being labeled as such. Also it’s quite attractive, the dark red blooms hover nicely amongst the light green leaves.

An adorable Paph. myanmaricum featured in Woodstream Orchids display during last weekend’s SEPOS show. This had to be the most petite example of the species I’ve ever seen. It was beautiful nonetheless.

Bulbophyllum sillemianum blooming again. This is a better pic than in a previous post. The flower is in a more open position.

A Cadetia sp. from Papua. Flowers frequently and has a faint but pleasant fragrance. I’m calling it Cadetia aff. versteegii so if anyone has a more accurate specific epitaph please let me know!

Bulbophyllum sillenianum is a member of the section Sestochilos and can be found in Myanmar. There are a number of morphological similarities between this species and other members of the section like B. coweniorum and B. orectopetalum however, imo, this species stands out due the distinct contrast between the lip and sepals/petals as well as the overall saturation and intensity of the colors. The camera didn’t do it justice. The blooms were, unfortunately, short lived. by @zwum

Den. sulphureum from New Guinea. Cool grower with very vivid yellow flowers, hence the name. by @zwum

Den. subacaule showing off. Love the color on this one, it’s a pinkish peachy orange which doesn’t translate well through a pic. by @zwum
