WELCOME TO SPIRIT & TRUTH!

Spirit & Truth is a non-denominational Christian community in Toronto and our mission is to unite the church and reconnect the lost to build God’s kingdom through prayer, worship and community.

This community is not meant to replace the local church, but complement it.

We meet once a month to worship and create a welcoming space where people can worship freely, experience the presence of God, and connect with a kingdom-minded community shaped by truth, love and obedience.

We hope to see you at the next one ❤️

Last night, I was blessed to win the Community Leader award for raising over $37,000 across 6 community project spanning throughout the GTA providing running shoes, winter jackets, Christmas gifts and food to families, children, people without housing and refugees.

I appreciate the 1000s of people who have donated, participated, spread the word, encouraged or been involved in any form or fashion.

Little is much when God is in it.

Marathon 6: New Personal Best - 3:34 🏁

A few highlights from another special marathon weekend and I’m more than ready to take a break from a long year of running.

LA to Vegas run in March, Toronto to Blue Mountain run in June, and Waterfront Full Marathon in October 🤕

What I am most proud of? (Not pictured)

My high school friends @vishcpa & @ajmxnauf, my university friend @nerriswhite, a recent friend & work colleague @lefter_v, and my most recent friend @valentinaquinteroc_ all running their first half marathon this weekend 🥹

🗽 ROAD TO NY PART 7

The meal prep episode everybody been waiting for 😂

Started meal prepping after I realized I would be living under the Gardiner Expressway if I kept up my spending habits and have fallen in love with the process of making meals since 2024.

The Menu:

🍣Miso Butter Salmon & Sweet Potatoes
🥩Beef Kofta & Turmeric Rice

Kofta and white rice the night before a long run — low fiber on purpose, so 30k goes clean instead of sending me looking for a bathroom at kilometre 22.

Salmon, Japanese sweet potato, broccolini for everyday. Potassium and magnesium because long runs take more out of you than you think.

Arugula in every container. Nitrates improve oxygen efficiency at endurance pace. Small thing, free gain, took me nine weeks to actually do it.

🗽ROAD TO NY PART 6

Something a little different, showing what my typical Fridays after work look like in preparation for a Saturday long run and another week of running.

On Fridays I pull up my Claude project to see what my meal prep options are for the week as well as googling what it looks like 😂

Once I choose, it generates a grocery list for me and I start by checking what I do and don’t have in my fridge and pantry.

Then I bike over to St.Lawrence and I’m in and out within 15 minutes stopping at my favourite butcher, fish market and farmer’s market.

This week we got Miso Butter Salmon and Beef Kofta.

Cheeky stop at 6ixdonuts to end the day cause why not 😜 by @zxhdee

🗽ROAD TO NY PART 5

Birthday run and social with thirty friends.

Some of them run. Most of them don’t. A few of them, I’m fairly certain, had not run in some time and did it anyway because I asked.

That’s the part I keep thinking about. Nobody showed up for the workout. There was no workout. It was four kilometres at whatever pace the slowest person wanted to go, and thirty people rearranged their morning for it.

Last week I said I’m not self made. This is what I meant.

29 years in, six weeks from New York, and the best thing I have going is the people who keep showing up for things that aren’t about them.

Thank you. All of you.

🗽ROAD TO NY PART 4

Death. Taxes. Saturday Long Run.

27km. Longest run of this block so far, and one I’d been looking forward to — not because I knew it would go well, but because I wanted to see how my body would react.

It went better than I thought it would. Held the paces and beat a few of them.

WORKOUT: 3 x 4km w/ 1km floats

Total: 27.02km / 2:26:47 @ 5:26/km avg

Warmup: 4km @ 6:00/km, 2km @ 5:23/km, 3x100m strides (4:34, 4:21, 4:19 equiv.)

1.	4km @ 5:02/km, float 1km @ 5:50
2.	4km @ 5:00/km, float 1km @ 5:42
3.	4km @ 4:55/km, float 1km @ 6:06

Cooldown: 5.44km @ 5:49/km

Third rep was the fastest. That’s becoming the pattern.

Somewhere in the back half I had a thought I haven’t been able to shake. I’m not self made, and I’ll never claim to be.

Too many people have had a hand in this. The ones who encouraged me through the injury. The ones who helped me heal from it. The one programming my runs, the one programming my strength work, the one showing up at 6am to film. The ones who bought plane tickets to stand on a sidewalk in New York and watch me run past for four seconds.

All of the negative led to all of the positive. Knowing what it led to, I wouldn’t take any of it back.

Humility is knowing you can’t do it by yourself.

🗽ROAD TO NY PART 3

Tuesday morning was a 13km threshold workout. Tuesday evening was an hour of strength.

Two sessions in one day is new for me this block, and the second one is the part I would have skipped a year ago.

Almost all of it is single-leg work, which is the point — running is one leg at a time for 42km. The RDLs and lunges build the posterior chain that keeps my stride from collapsing late. Glute bridges and Copenhagen planks are hips and adductors, the first things to go when you’re tired. Calf raises for the achilles. Chin-ups and rows because posture falls apart at km 32.

•	SL Glute Bridge w/ ER — 2 x 12
•	Chin-Up — 8, 8, 5
•	Kickstand RDL — 3 x 10
•	Pendulum Lunge — 3 x 20
•	Copenhagen Plank w/ Hip Dip — 3 x 10
•	KB Gorilla Row — 3 x 10
•	Donkey Calf Raise — 3 x 15

None of this makes me faster on its own. It makes me durable enough to keep training, and that’s most of the job.

The honest reason I did it is that I’m preparing for something that’s going to hurt. You can’t build that on race day. You build it on the evenings when the morning session is already done and everything in you says that’s enough for today.

Physical fortitude and mental fortitude. I’m going to need both.

🗽ROAD TO NY PART 2

Thursday morning 6am track workout with @sabrrunning : 5 x 1 mile at 4:30–4:40 pace, 75 seconds rest between sets.

I woke up at 5am under the weather and messaged @thisisalexander.j to see if he was already on his way to the track to film. I was hoping he hadn’t left so I could skip the workout and go back to bed. He messaged back saying he was 10 minutes away, which meant I couldn’t bail.

Post workout I’m so glad I didn’t.

There’s something about doing difficult workouts at 6am with a group of people, and even more so about taking the onus of pacing and leading your group. There are other people relying on you now. That pushes you to show up, and to show up ready to work.

5 x 1 mile (75sec rest between):
•	Mile 1 — 7:28 (4:40/km)
•	Mile 2 — 7:24 (4:38/km)
•	Mile 3 — 7:24 (4:38/km)
•	Mile 4 — 7:23 (4:37/km)
•	Mile 5 — 7:22 (4:36/km)

Total: 9.47km in 50:51 including warm up and cool down.

Fastest mile was the last one. Second week in a row the legs decided to show up at the end.

24km Fartlek run.

Fartlek pyramid (1min recovery between each):
•	2min — 4:47/km
•	4min — 4:55/km
•	6min — 5:03/km

•	2min — 4:41/km
•	4min — 4:42/km
•	6min — 4:54/km

Then 9.49km @ 5:47/km.

Every long run is a test to see how far my ankle has come but this block’s motto is “Slowly but surely.”

Let me know what you’d like to see during this block and I’ll see you on the next one 👋 by @zxhdee
