@ktvu2 ran a story on ASAF this past Sunday morning about kids helping younger kids in underserved communities. So if you missed it, we wanted to share the link to the story to tell the ASAF story, and how many teenagers we have giving up some of their summer days to help provide kids an opportunity to love sports. The link directly to the story is on ASAF’s main bio. #ktvu #kidsgivingback #008training #nonprofit #teenvolunteers by @008training

We are so honored that @ktvu2 will be doing a story on ASAF early tomorrow morning to promote our mission of providing high level training and sports camps to kids in underserved areas without taking a single penny for doing it! This year, we have nearly 100 kids registered for the camp that starts on Monday, and have again partnered with @008training and @hayward_rec to reach out to the surrounding cities in the greater Hayward area. @fmallicoat will be interviewing our founders, @m.chao25 and @josh_chao127 on live TV to learn more about the mission and vision of ASAF, heading into our 3rd year of providing this free camp. #ktvu2 #ktvu #frankmallicoat #nonprofit #givingback by @008training

There are people in the softball community who make an impact far beyond the field, and Octavia Bond is one of those people.

This week, Harper had the opportunity to be a Junior Coach at her favorite summer camp for the third year in a row at @008training, and watching her give back at the place that helped shape her has been incredibly special.

I talk about Octavia often because what she has built is so much more than a training facility. She has created a place where young girls are coached by incredible female athletes who have played, and continue to play at every level of the game, from college to beyond. But what makes 008 truly special isn’t just the softball instruction.

It’s Octavia.

She pours into these girls in ways that go far beyond hitting, fielding, and throwing. She checks in with them when they need someone. She celebrates them at graduations. She holds them accountable during lessons, pushes them when they doubt themselves, and reminds them that their worth is never defined by a batting average or a bad game.

She is helping raise confident, resilient young women who just happen to play softball.

We found Octavia when Harper was just seven years old, and I honestly don’t think we’ll ever be able to repay her for everything she’s done for our family. She has believed in Harper, challenged her, and helped her grow into the athlete, and more importantly, the person she is becoming.

I hope she knows she’s stuck with us for life. ❤️

And if I had to make one prediction, it’s this: one day Harper will come full circle and be an instructor at 008, inspiring the next generation of girls the same way Octavia inspired her.

Thank you, Octavia, for everything you do, not just for Harper, but for every girl who walks through your doors. The softball community is better because of you. @octaviabond by @008training

Please welcome Mia Rodriguez‼️ We are excited to have Mia joining the 008 Training family for slapping, hitting & fielding lessons this summer.

Mia will begin lessons on Friday, June 5th. Her availability is listed above on the flyer. If you are interested in booking with Mia, you can book directly on the website at www.008training.com.

A little bit about Mia:

“Hello All!

I am Mia Rodriguez. I currently play division I softball at San Diego State University, where I compete as a slapper and outfielder. My game is most focused on speed, consistency, and HYPE energy! I take pride in my love for softball and devoted to the people around me.

Being a student-athlete at the Division I level has taught me the values of resilience and time management. I take every day with intention and also bring good vibes!

Beyond being a student- athlete, I am passionate about giving back to the softball community and making connections. I am excited to have the privilege to mentor to young girls, build confidence, and build on their game. My goal is to be a positive role model who practices what they preach and give the most to those who are mentored!

My goal is to continue developing as both an athlete and a leader, while also learning myself. By using my platform to encourage the girls who play this game, my goal is to make an impact in the most positive version and leaving and impact!”
