A few install shots of my first solo exhibition, Dreams and How to Keep Them, at @1014.gallery , which opened last week on Thursday in conjunction with my book launch of the same title, and from my launch in Berlin at @bam_wrks two weeks back. With C-prints, printed with the help of @cy.klock @photographyunlimitedberlin , and @golab_berlin , and resin blocks produced with Jack.

These last few weeks have been so fun and so exhausting. Biggest shoutout to @smut_press , to Jack and Jordan for working with me on bringing this book and show to life and none of it would have been possible without so many beautiful people 🤍 by @1014.gallery

SMUT Press is proud to present Dreams and How To Keep Them by Vincent Wechselberger. The publication is the second photobook by Berlin-based photographer Vincent Wechselberger and the eleventh from SMUT Press.

Dreams and How To Keep Them is an insight into the artist’s shifting internal landscape, grappling with a fraught relationship to a notorious city that is as generous as it is unforgiving. The publication unfolds over a ten-year photographic archive and documents those who have shaped the artist’s experience in the city. Spanning intimate portraits, after-hours parties, bustling dancefloors and still lives; the images featured are a powerful testament to Wechselberger’s ability to capture the delicate balance between humour and excess, between beauty and chaos. The publication is designed by John Philip Sage and includes a foreword by journalist and author Amelia Abraham, and a closing text by the artist.

The publication will have its first official launch at BAM, Berlin, on 10 September. An accompanying exhibition at 1014 Gallery in London will open on 17 September with handprinted works from the book. Please RSVP for the opening night on 17 September via the link in our bio.

A world accumulates, image by image. This is a place of strange, sweet light, where fog bewilders, caves beckon and smoke curls out of craters. Landscape is not what it seems. A certain liquidity pervades. Viewpoints tilt. Glaciers slurp. Pathways gleam.

Drawn from eight years of work, Jess Gough’s photographs describe a world in transition, where matter is unsettled and everything slips between states: clotted shorelines, pearly ridges and rocks that appear gelatinous. Curious openings appear in earth and metal, where natural and human-made forms echo one another in a shared vocabulary.

In Still Formation, darkroom prints sit alongside photopolymer etchings and their iridescent metal plates - part image, part relic - each a sustained study of materiality, following surfaces until the familiar tips into the unknown.
