First Beth Chatto poppy of the season. These are the smallest cutest poppies I’ve ever come across, the flowers don’t last long but they flower prolifically. Here’s hoping for lots more 🐦‍⬛

Adding this photo of my darling little thrush friend, I’m not sure if it’s a boy or girl not that it matters. She follows me round the garden. Quietly chirping to get my attention. Sometimes even peeking through the French doors if I’ve not fed her enough tidbits. I’m thinking it’s about time she or he had a name.. any suggestions?

🐦‍⬛ her nemesis….

Sadly, avian flu has made it to the shores of NZ.
I made the decision today to stop feeding my feathered friends to hopefully save them.
As I took down the apple and the bird feeder they sat in the trees watching me. I took them away to wash in hot soapy water, hoping it won’t be long until they hang back in the trees.
It’s a sad situation and hopefully our beautiful native birds will survive not too badly scathed 🐦‍⬛

Summer has been more a miss than a hit this year. A reminder of what it should be like, with dinner and drinks outside. Here hoping for a big hurrah to finish before Autumn arrives 🌞🐝🌻

Where has the year gone! I was thinking about all that has happened while doing a spot of weeding today.. only seemed like the other week it was the beginning of the year. 🫣

The summer garden is starting to flourish. Lots of new plants in the bee garden this year, some I don’t even remember planting!

In case you weren’t aware I am a ‘scribehound legend’ and proud owner of a scribehound gnome, who now resides in my potting shed. If you are a not a listener of the scribehound gardening podcast, @scribehound_gardening , then do, it’s funny, informative and just something good!

I was awarded my title and gnome for sending in a question on worm farming. I won’t be upset that Joe @joe_swifty and James @jamesasinclair made fun of my kiwi accent, but rest assured they would be welcome to partake in ‘fush and chups’ on my ‘dick’ I’m mean….deck with a delicious cheeky NZ sav anytime.

Go listen.. you too could become a scribehound legend!

Morning ablutions…
Our guttering provides many a Tui, blackbird and the occasional kererū a safe place to bath, drink and have a good old natter. And if you’re not aware when walking down the drive a wee shower for yourself.
