The budget adds up VERY quickly when every decision becomes “it’s only a little bit extra” 😅

Walking through Project 13, I’m sharing where we’re saving, where we’re splurging and the design details worth thinking twice about before you build.

One of my save tips? Be selective with cavity sliders. They’re great where space is tight, but you don’t need one behind every door!

From door choices to curved walls, episode 8 is my top 3 saves and splurges we have included for Project 13 🙌🏻.

👇 Comment EPISODE 8 and I’ll send you the link!

Building or renovating? Your next Bunnings visit just got a little more exciting 👀

Tonight I visited the Bunnings Solution Studio in Port Melbourne a one-stop shop bringing together materials, finishes and ideas to help make building and renovating just that little bit easier.

And the timing couldn’t have been better for Project 13 in construction👏🏻! It was great to see so many of the brands and materials we’re using coming together in one space, including @momohandlesaus , @csrgyprock , @polytec and @jameshardieau .

There are SO many decisions when you’re creating a home. Being able to see and feel your options, compare finishes and picture how they’ll work together makes such a difference.

Congratulations to @bunnings on a great initiative 👏 More locations are coming to a Bunnings near you!

Save this for your next build or renovation and tell me, what’s been your hardest selection so far? 👇

Before you sign off on your window order, there’s more to check than the size and frame colour.. if you do one thing from following our project 13 .. SAVE THIS POST

✔️ Allow for blinds and curtains. Are blinds sitting inside the reveal or outside it? Is there enough depth for your chosen system? Do you need space for curtain tracks, a recessed pelmet or power for motorised blinds? - triple check this on site - ideally this needs to be planned at the start but one small change could derail your plans

✔️ Check how the windows open. Consider handles, opening direction and whether they’ll interfere with window coverings, furniture or joinery.

✔️ Look at the façade again. Changing a window’s size, position, frame or configuration can change the balance of the whole exterior. Check your materials.. we are using Axon cladding and we don’t want our materials to finish with a half plank. Measure and triple check!

✔️ Confirm the final specifications. Sizes, frame colours, glazing, screens and opening types.

This is where getting your builder, designer, and window supplier talking early makes all the difference.

I’m so lucky that hosting @dreamhomesrevealed.aus means I get to step inside some amazing homes and share them with you!

This home by @ryandevelopments was such a pleasure to host. Modern, beautifully considered and full of features that make you stop and take a closer look.

What I loved most was the attention to detail. Beyond the big wow moments, it’s the thoughtful design decisions that bring everything together and this home had so much inspiration to take away.

As a designer, I love seeing the vision behind a home and the care that goes into bringing it to life. Getting to share that with you makes this role even more special.

Have you watched the latest episode? Tell me which feature caught your eye! 👇

This corner is all about the details: richly veined stone running across the walls, benchtop and basin; a mirrored cabinet that keeps the look clean; and warm metallic tapware that softens the stone’s bold pattern.

It’s a small space with a lot of presence and a reminder that the materials you choose can completely change how a room feels.

Swipe for the before. Which detail would you save for your own renovation? 🙌🏻.

12 months ago, I shared the parts of my life that people couldn’t see from the outside.

Today, No Fence, No Limits turns one. 🤍

Writing this book meant going back through experiences I’d spent years trying to make sense of. Years of fertility treatments, loss, hope and disappointment. Letting go of the future I’d imagined, and figuring out who I was when that future no longer looked the way I thought it would.

It was a lot to put on paper. Even more to put out into the world.

But I wanted to talk honestly about what happens when life doesn’t follow the plan. About the expectations we carry as women. And about finding the courage to build a life you love, even while you’re grieving the one you thought you’d have.

My journey has taken me through different careers, building 13 Interiors, mentoring, television and eventually becoming an author. There were plenty of moments along the way when I had absolutely no idea what came next.

I wanted that part in the book too.

To everyone who has read it, shared feedback, recommended it to a friend or trusted me with a little of your own story: thank you. Those conversations mean so much to me.

I wrote it with the woman going through fertility struggles in mind. The woman starting again. The woman building a business, changing direction, or quietly wondering, “What now?”

My hope was that sharing my story would help someone feel less alone, and a little more confident about taking her next step.

A year on, that’s still what matters most to me.

I’m proud of this book. And I’m proud of the life I’ve built, even though it looks very different from the one I once pictured.

Thankyou to @deanpublishing.australia for helping me bring this to life 🙏

The beautiful projects are only half the story. The real lessons? They happen behind the scenes.

Building a successful design business isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces, landing dream clients or building an impressive portfolio.

It’s about the confidence to back yourself, the decisions that don’t always go to plan, the clients who teach you a lesson (or two!) and the resilience to keep showing up when things get hard.

And trust me, I’ve experienced all of the above!

I’m excited to be joining @theperthdesigncommunity as one of four guest panellists for a candid conversation about what it REALLY takes to build a successful business in the design industry.

Having built 13 Interiors from the ground up, I’ve learnt that some of the most valuable business lessons aren’t the ones you find in a textbook. They’re the ones you experience firsthand.

We’ll be sharing our journeys, the challenges, the lessons learned the hard way and the confidence we’ve built along the way.

No gatekeeping. No sugar-coating. Just real conversations about business with people who have walked the path.

And if you’ve been following my journey, you’ll know that sharing what I’ve learnt and helping others grow is something I’m incredibly passionate about.

Whether you’re just starting out, finding your feet or ready to take your design business to the next level, I’d love to see you there.

A huge thank you to Lisa from @theperthdesigncommunity for bringing our industry together and creating space for conversations like these.

Because when we share our knowledge, we all have the opportunity to grow.

🎟️ Come along, connect with your design community and leave with a little more confidence to back yourself and your business.

People think I’m joking…

But under this ground is:

* stormwater
* retaining walls
* sewer
* water
* electrical provisions
* pool services

Once it’s covered…
it’s incredibly expensive to change.

That’s why planning and timing is everything..

Things we planned meticulously to save on labour..

*underground electrical pit installation as soon as the land settled
*tree looping of overhanging branches on neighboring properties while access was simple.
*pool engineering and form work at the same time as plumbing
*retaining wall block install while excavator was on site prepping the pad

Planning and communication has saved us 1000s !

What other tips do you want from Project 13?
